    Sounds like either a ram issue or virus to me. Try running MS Ram Test to see if you find any errors.

    You should verify that the XP cd is good. Try it in another machine to see if you can boot from it. It sounds like a bad disk to me.

    Sounds like the SATA driver needs to be updated/repaired. I'd download the latest drivers and run the repair portion of XP installation (Not the first one but the one after you agree to the EULA). Is the controler onboard or a seperate card?
