Yeah, this is definitely an art of combinations. And I read everything you guys post, and try to get an idea of what the average is, so far I know that 3.6 is pretty achievable by everyone. That is a good start, and currently where I am at. I am going to keep testing, reading, and studying...

e8400 Overclocked For First Time on Gigabyte MB, Failed, Help

That is correct. "Like all the other guys cpu's did". They appeared to be "the standard" or "the average" that my cpu should be able to do. If not, then I had a problem, and I needed to know why. I am suddenly puzzled that this is an issue? If I did not know what others could do, then how...

It matters dramatically if i knew certain batches of processors are having a better run at hitting the goals I have in mind. So based on that fact that I am after, and not a competitive spirit, I would say it matters greatly. If I had to increase my vcore to the limit of 1.5 and it still didnt...

Very odd. I lowered the voltage back down to one step above stock which is like 1.25625 and now its working fine at 3600? Can anyone shed some light on why it would not before but does now?

Yeah, thats where I want to be. 4ghz. I dont need 4.2 or 4.5, just 4 flat and I am happy. I want to achieve that level in the most stable fashion that I can.

This was my first stress test at 20 mins only. Can someone verify the settings look ok, also notice my temps in the lower right of the screenshot, the tems are in the taskbar next to the windows clock. Are those high, low, normal?

Yeah, its just a hair pulling situation. I put everything back at stock, and did what the poster above stated step by step. It ran flawless and passed the test at 3600 with no problems at all. I only had to up the voltage one position from stock to get it to run at 3600 and handle the Orthos...

Matt I ordered the chip from NCIX which took a long time to get here, that was another experience in and of itself. The chip works in its stock format, but there must be a host of settings that I am not familiar with. I am unfamiliar with lock the pci-e bus, so I assume I did not do that, nor...

Thanks Matt, and no your not rude at all. I guess I am just expecting the same results that most others got. Like I said, you didn't do anything, and you were not rude at all.

Welp, thats it for me. Done. 5 increase in voltage, and the last one led to three BSOD's, couldn't get into windows, and wella. Done. I am now officially ticked. I spent a ton of time researching all this, all over this site, and got the most highly recommended setup, and it falls flat on its...

Beats me, every time i set the new voltage, it completely resets the clock mulitplier in my bios. However, i noticed in CPU-Z that the multiplier and clock speed go up and down as I am pressing stuff and executing stuff in windows. Is that normal? Oh and another failure on the voltage...

Welp, another failure. This STINKS. How many people have gotten 3.6ghz on STOCK voltage on this setup? Now, I am 2 steps into bumping voltage just to hit what others hit on air and at stock? Am I missing something or? Someone tell me I should have gone with my instinct on the AMD 5600...
