    I finally got it to work by using the card/LCD analog connection. In all I had to install latest dirvers/software for the ATI RADEON 2000, get rid of the DVI cable and use the VGA 15 pin cable to connect the LCD monitor. I'm guessing that the card does not support the higher resolutions...

    Purchased ViewSonic VX2235VM, can't get 1680x1050 resolution. ATI and ViewSonic told me to update drivers/software for both the card and the monitor and now I do see 1680x1050 resolution as an option from the ATI Radeon 9200 PRO but when I select it, the LCD goes black and soon after drops back...
