    Anti-glare coating vs. Glossy finish

I use glossy and matte screens; Nec 20WMGX2 & my Acer aspire 5002 laptop are glossy, and the Cinema displays I use at school/work & an old LG 17" are matte. I started off with matte screens and really liked them. They were great and I had no problems with glare. I thought the images were...

    Deciding on an LCD

I picked up a 20wmgx2 two weeks ago and I love it!! Pure awesomeness. I would definitely recommend widescreen for a single monitor setup. Your eyes naturally prefer that ratio.

    Colour reproduction on 1920x1200

After some careful consideration, I decided that I did not want to sacrifice quality for size. Perhaps when my new monitor needs replacement I will be in the position to get the then equivalent of the Nec 2690wuxi. Given my budget I ultimately purchased a Nec MultiSync 20WMGX2 and I am very...

    NEC LCD2690

Granted most CMYK injet printers would not be able to reproduce the Adobe RGB gamut, but given that the NEC 2690 is marketed to professionals, it wouldnt be far off to think the 'Cannon Professional Photo series' printers - Photo PIXMA Pro9000 and the like - would be used in conjunction with...

    Colour reproduction on 1920x1200

I need an IPS panel. Those monitors use a PVA panel as far as I know, creating tonal differences across the extent of the screen. see http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1118652&highlight=230WP7NS for pictures illustrating this point. _____ aside from that, it is just personal...

    Colour reproduction on 1920x1200

The graphics cards cannot output more than 8bits correct? So is a 12 bit LUT like saying that the monitor has 8bits + dithering? If that's not the case then I'm not sure I understand how this works, or how both monitors (the 2490 and the 2690) have access to this 12 bit LUT, but are not able to...

    Colour reproduction on 1920x1200

I have been continuing my search for the ideal monitor to suit my needs and I have come across the Philips 23" 230WP7NS. It seems to be rather rare, but the specs look promising...

    Colour reproduction on 1920x1200

I'm not sure from personal experience what would be better for shadows/greyscale, but my research tells me that the nec 2690 is a good choice (I would buy it now except for its hefty price tag). Sparing such a large investment, try turning down the brightness (turn it way down) on the lcd to...

    Colour reproduction on 1920x1200

Interesting. So if i understand correctly, I would be able to achieve accurate colour through my workflow on a much cheaper monitor by calibrating my video card. Would I still need to purchase one of those calibrators that mount on the display screen in order to calibrate the video card...

    Colour reproduction on 1920x1200

I took a look at this link and compared the colours after calibration on several monitors and the results show that the BENQ 24" & the DELL 24" have lower deltaE than the NEC 2690. How is that possible considering the BENQ uses a PVA panel and the DELL is listed as having one as well (although...

    Colour reproduction on 1920x1200

Hi everyone! I have been cruising around this forum for a while and finally decided to join! I have noticed that most of the display threads discuss gaming while very few discuss the merits of colour for the professional user. I am looking to purchase a widescreen LCD monitor, and I would like...
