Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Tesoro is supposed to have some new low profile keyboards out - chiclet style from what I've read. I've been using the Apple keyboards on my PC for years now and I can't stand the mile long key throw of mechanical. It's like going back to typing on a 1980's mainframe.
Simple question - will the 6800k work with Esxi for a home lab? I thought the K series weren't supposed to be used for VM's for some reason or another. Maybe that's changed? I checked vmware CPU compatibility but they don't have the 6800k listed as a valid option.
Been running an MCP355 for the past few years with a 1x360 rad, CPU and GPU blocks. I'm planning on doing another build that will have 2x240 rads, CPU and GPU blocks. Would the 355 be enough or should I look into something else like the 35X or 655.
I'd like mount my res on top of the pump...
Sup guys,
So I'm bored and need a new project to screw around with. I have a water cooled rig in a 400,000 cubic foot Case Labs case and I'm looking to upgrade and downsize but increase my cooling capacity. Love my Case Labs but it's huge and occasionally vibrates like crazy.
I will be...
Update: finally getting around to this project. Given the amount of time between my OP I decided to sniff around and get an updated list of gear. Primary use is data storage and running VM's.
Take a look, pick it apart, give suggestions, etc.
Case - Antec P280
CPU - i7-4770K...
Sure - here's what I priced out:
Case: NZXT 210
Motherboard: MSI Z77MA-G45
CPU: 2500K
RAM: 16G G.Skill
RAID Card: LSI 9270-8i
Drives: 6x Seagate 3TB
Cables: SFF-8087
I didn't quote a power supply since I have a few spares laying around. I also looked at the WD Red drives but...
I agree w/ sawk - I'm not a huge fan of those high point cards as I've also had some issues with them in the past. Our data is important enough that I'm willing to spend money on a solution that'll be reliable.
I've been pricing out a couple options with an LSI card using my existing mboard...
Thanks for the fast responses guys. I forgot to mention that I already have a plan for doing backups to another system for the important data. I'll take a look at some of the options provided. My biggest problem so far was finding a good raid card so that's why I turned to the forums for...
Looking for some help building a data storage server at home. I have about 1.5TB of data and I'm looking to double/triple that. Data redundancy is very important...my wife has a billion goddamn photos and she'd probably go postal if anything happened to them.
Anyway!
I have a server now...
I don't know much about video encoding....
Why would QNAP or Synology have to transcode to 1080p to stream to a device? Wouldn't the movie file already be transcoded?
I've had one of these for the past 6 months and noticed some discoloration on the right side of the panel about a month ago. It almost looks something like a waterstain. It's very noticable on a grey or blue background and when I started looking into it, I saw more of the shaded lines...
Man I completely forgot about Amazon. Just called and it looks like they ship the product from another company. I called them and they accept full refunds within 15 days minus 5% restocking. Definitely going to pick the NEC up and give it a whirl. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
