I just picked up a 1030 as I'm moving to our off-grid place in a few weeks. It's on its way from Amazon, should be here early next week. I'm moving sideways from a GTX460 that uses 160w, vs the GT1030 @ 30w :ROFLMAO:
When the new cards come out I'll pick something in the lower end range that...
There are a handful of rigs for sale in my local Kijiji... One listing had 4 rigs made up of 50 cards. I think it's almost time to start sending these guys lowball offers on single cards. You know, just to prepare them for the eventual :p
lol. Ahhh, those were the days. I'm just waiting waiting waiting.... I've noticed prices are starting to come down. I can basically pay MSRP for a used card now.
I'd buy a card from a miner without much concern. I would, however, want to either personally inspect the board or see high res pictures to look for any unusual heat markings. I probably wouldn't buy it online unless from here with heat, so I'd request to see it running as well.
I'm looking...
I have a 12yo nephew who is super into PCs, which is awesome. I'd give it to him. And then probably scoure the buy and and sell here as well as Kijiji for a poor miner selling a 1070 at a reasonable price.
Mine should be delivered today, got an EVGA GTX 460 for $135 CAD over the holiday.
Will be overclocking, and from this thread looks like I should be pushing 800/1700/1000 pretty easily. Sweet! I'm pretty excited as I'm coming from an 8800gt 512mb.
Wait two weeks for another paycheck. Then buy the 4850. Tell the wife you'd like to add a dollar a day for the next two weeks.
That being said, I only very rarey cross my wife. She is my limit maker as well, otherwise I would have many stupid things I really don't need.
Edit: lol...
I don't feel dumb, and I didn't pay $300. I've had a great time editing photos and gaming with my E8400 for a few months. Think of all the money I could have wasted because my productivity would be down using a slower CPU because I waited five months to get a cheap processor.
I'm not saying...
I know many of you have 8800GTs and had bad temps. Lots of people went dual slot or aftermarket.
My PC being outside (look at my other threads) during the winter, temps weren't an issue for me. It's starting to get warmer now, so I've had to re-evaluate my 24/7 setup. I had seen several...
It's really not that tedious; install two things and copy a file - big deal. I was comparing the process to superpi or doing stress testing, where you basically push go and watch.
I was just commenting from the extremely lazy point of view :p
Which is also why I didn't reboot and drop the...
I decided why not. A bit tedious (when used to just 'open-install-bench'), but I'm bored. But not bored enough to take my E8400 down to stock.

Seriously? I am pretty happy with my TRUE 120, but if I could drop my temps another 3-6 degrees just by switching fans (I have the S12) that would be great.
