i figured if there was any ESD of any kind, the likelihood of even getting the machine to boot is very low. However, i do live in hawaii and ESD build up is pretty rare here.
I have a feeling it has something to do with the bios :-/
damn, should've mentioned that. It's a intellimouse explorer 3 (usb), i've tried different USB ports, used an PS/2 adapter and tried another mouse. Problem still exists. However, both mice are optical and i haven't tried out a regular ball mouse...i don't think it'll help the problem. :(
