Wow, that's quite a drop in temps. I'm not as lucky as you since my board didn't come with an extra slot. I guess the only way to find out is to remove the card and test it out.
ooops, i forgot to mention the temps.
Temp (Everest Ultimate & Rivatuner) :
GPU diode - 60-61C (fan spinning @ 70%)
Temp while playing Company of Heroes:
63C max
I just worry about the VGA temp 'cause the rest of the temps are pretty good.
HD - 32C (surfing net)
CPU - 34C
Guys,
I have an Audigy 2 card sitting right next to my 8800GTS with very little gap in between and i'm not sure if this can contribute to the high temp on the 8800GTS. I don't really mind removing the sound card if its gonna bring down the temp by 5C at least.
Lol, i used some ties also to attached the rear fan. I still chose the Corsair over other PSU because of the good reviews all over the net and it has a 5 year warranty.
The Cisco Kid,
This is what i did to my SG01. I have the two top 80mm fans exhausting, 2 80mm intakes ( one for the HD and the other one blowing directly to my video card) and last another 80mm fan mounted at the back of my PSU which helps exhausting the heat. It's a ghetto mod, but it works...
Can i overclock the E4300 to a E6400 speed with the Gigabyte 965GM-S2 motherboard? If so, do i need DDR2-800 ram or DDR2-667 is good enough? Sorry, i'm a noob.
Guys,
What ram should i get for light overclocking with the E4300 and Gigabyte 965GM-S2 (matx) motherboard?
I want to get into overclocking stuff, but just wanna do it lightly and not to the extreme. I have no experience also on this subject.
I know the motherboard has limitations on...
Wow, that thing is really small for a tower case. I wonder if any of the flower heatsink can fit in there. The front 120mm fans can blow the exhausted air from the flower heatsink towards the back vent. This thing will look pretty nice on any desk for sure.
So anything i should know before installing this thing like drivers? I got this monitor almost two weeks ago, but it's still in the box 'cause i'm still waiting for my other computer parts.
Should i use the drivers/software that came in the box or download new drivers? Thanks.
Why not overclock?
1) I don't know how and afraid to ruin a chip if i do.
2) Overclocking will cost more on components (ram, heatsink, and motherboard)
3) Heat issue; I'm putting everything in a micro atx case.
4) more expensive CPU = less expensive CPU + high end parts...what's the point?
5)...
Enginurd,
Well, as far as the board goes, i don't plan to overclock that's why i'm going with a cheap ram also (the Wintec).
It sounds like the 640MB card is good only for AA/AF turn on and what exactly would i miss from games like CCTiberium, Supreme Commander, Rome, and Company of Heroes...
Guys,
I'm planning to buy all my parts this weekend and i need everyone's opinion of my setup.
Which is better overall:
E6600 + 8800GTS 320MB
or
E4400 + 8800GTS 640MB
I'll be using these components:
Monitor - HP 2207W
Motheboard - Gigabyte GA-965GM-S2 (matx)
Ram...
Is the E4400 the best buy right now for the low end of the build (no overclocking)? I think the price is just about right, $139. The next chip, the E6320, is about 5% faster on games, but almost on par with the E4400 on applications.
E4300 - $117
E4400 - $139
E6320 - $169
