    Internal card reader issues

Unfortunately I don't have another W7 machine other than my laptop.

    Internal card reader issues

A little over a year ago I put together a rig which I primarily use for photo editing (Lightroom 2/photoshop), 3D CAD work (Pro/E / Solidworks), and music. Details: * Antec Mini P180 * Corsair 650TX Power Supply * Core i5-750 (stock clock) * Corsair H50 * Gigabyte...

    Turbo mode not working?

Could be a couple things. When I first built my i5 rig, the multiplier wouldn't go above 21x regardless of how I applied a single core load. One day it stopped booting, which I tracked down to a bad stick of RAM. I RMA'd the ram, installed the new ram, and the turbo mode began working...

So the i7 980x actually comes with a usable stock cooler?

My i5-750 with the stock cooler stays in the low 60 range running the FAH SMP client at ~95% load with Ceramique thermal paste. Running Prime 95 it stays in the low 70 range. This is in an Antec Mini P180 with the rear fan on low, the big top fan on medium, and an ATI FireGL V3600 graphics card.

Photo DO's and DON'T's for my trip to Yellowstone

I don't see the 50mm prime being very useful unless you plan on shooting wildlife at dusk/dawn when there isn't much ambient light. In that case, the f/1.8 aperture (iirc) would be helpful. If you don't mind buying used third party glass, it looks like you could get a decent zoom on ebay for...

If temps are good, is 90%+ cpu use an issue?

Thanks for catching that! The other day I flashed the latest BIOS, and I guess I didn't realize that the multiplier got set to 15x. I guess that would explain my temps at 90%+ load being lower than I expected. Now with the multiplier back up to 21x, the temps are hovering right around 60 By...

Thanks ;) Just wanted some confirmation

If temps are good, is 90%+ cpu use an issue?

I've got a core-i5-750 running at stock speeds. I'm running the SMP client, and I've been locking it to 2 cores simply because I've been uncomfortable running the machine flat-out 24/7. Will running 24/7 at 90+% load harm my cpu at all in the long run if my temps are in the mid 50°C range?

    RAID temp monitoring

I've been searching for quite some time now and have come up empty handed. Is there any program that can monitor the temps of hdds in a hardware RAID array?

    HDMI to component?

That cable won't work - it's for PS3s. You might be able to use a setup like this: HDMI to Female DVI DVI male to VGA Female VGA male to Component Cable But that would be a cumbersome setup putting alot of stress on the HDMI jack, plus you're looking at about $50 worth of parts...

What's a good program for monitoring hdd temps?

Specifically, is there a program that will let me monitor the temps of my two 1TB WD Caviar Black drives that are in a hardware RAID 1 through my motherboard? HD Tune will not display temps since the two drives show up as a single volume.

    Another 360 Mod

Have you looking into buying the liquid mask that is used for painting RC car bodies? Same idea, but it should give you much sharper cutoff lines. You can cover a larger area than you need, then trim the mask to the correct shape with an X-acto knife.

Post your "rate my cables" here

My first pass at tidying up my mini P180. I mounted the drives in the lower bay backwards so that I could run the sata/power cables up between the drive bay and the front of the case. Because the bolt pattern on the bottom of the hdds isn't centered on the drive, the drives stick out over the...

My buddies $1000 build - complete w/ pics

Nice build. I'm very interested in how your friend likes that monitor, as I'll eventually be upgrading to a good 24" monitor for photo editing.
