Soooo... I decided to get myself a PNY 1080Ti FE. And I don't regret it at all. This card is amazing!
Obviously, temps are pretty high. I added a 40mm fan to pull hot air out near the gpu i/o. Lowered my average temperatures by ~5°C. I read that someone else added 40mm fans to the gpu...
The only problem is that fe cards are too expensive right now :/ I would buy a 1070, but they are almost as expensive as 1080s... Even worse is that I have sold my msi gaming x 1070 back in may. For practically nothing.
But I always liked the idea that fans will turn off when it's cold...
Yeah, the MSI Aero hit 90°C+ easily when I started a game. I know it doesn't have a vapor camber, but is it such a big deal? Will the vapor chamber cool the 1080 more than 3 fans?
Has anyone tried the 1080 Gaming G1 or Windforce? I'd like to know what temps other people are having...
Does anyone know if there's a difference between the Gigabyte 1080 Gaming G1 and the Windforce 3x? I don't care about the backplate, but if there's a difference in cooling I would concider spending more for the G1...
The guy in the video says the card will hit 80°+ degrees while gaming. I suppose that is in a regular case... so it's probably not usable in the sentry?
Hey guys. I know the sentry wasn't build for 180W GPUs, but since alot of you seemed to be very confident in using a 1080 or even a 1080Ti, I decided to go with a MSI 1080 Aero OC.
My build is:
i7 7700 (non k)
MSI Aero 1080 OC
16GB RAM
Noctula NH L9i
Corsair SF450
a 4k monitor
I just played...
Thats good to know. Im still hopeing its not the gpu. The shop i bought it at doesnt have it in stock anymore and who knows how long itll take msi to fix that thing :/ I was sick of waiting for vega. Now I still have to wait. I hate waiting!!!
As I said, I tried it without the riser. Doesn't work. The sentry (nr. 11) has been delivered for 2 months now, but I was in a different county so I could't play with it. When I picked it up today I was so full of anticipation that I was stupid and didn't try it without the riser first. :(
But...
I have the following problem: For my Sentry build I used my "old" ASRock Z270m ac. I sold my 1070 because it was too big and got a MSI Aero 1080OC.
Today I started assembling. Everything seemed to fit together, no hard pushing or bending cables or connectors. When I turn on the machine, the...
I noticed that everyone uses the NH L9 in the same orientation (openings towards ram and connectors). Isn't it smarter to turn it by 90° so the hot air can escape?
I'll use a i7 7700 and get new radeon card (5xx or maybe vega) once they are released. Until then I'll try to use my MSI Gaming X 1070 in an open sentry.
