Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I've heard conflicting reports on this subject.
To answer my own question then. I tried a DVI-HDMI cable and it didn't work for me. So I got an ATI DVI-HDMI dongle and the audio now works.
I have a HD 4870x2 OEM without any software or DVI-HDMI dongles or cables.
I was wondering if the onboard audio would work through HDMI using any off the shelf DVI-HDMI cable or dongle. For those of you who bought a retail version of the 4870x2 is your DVI-HDMI dongle vendor specific?
hey thanks for the help.
I think the fan for my HSF max's at 500rpm, but the BIOS doesn't like it, oh well.
Still issues at this point, will have to play around with the bios and maybe reapply thermal paste to my HSF.
I put together my new system last night
I've run into a few problems so far and thought maybe some of you could help out.
Here's the rig:
Asus M3A78-T bios version 701
Phenom ii x4 940
Scythe Orochi HSF

Problems:
1) MB and CPU are possibly running hot...
Quick question, I got a Phenom ii x4 940 CPU without the HSF.
Can I powerup my system without the HSF to see if the CPU is working or do I need to install my aftermarket HSF before I power up my system?
Another question, will the motherboard POST without a CPU?
This is the motherboard that I am interested in
ASUS M3A78-T AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX
paired with a Phenom II X4 940.
The flashing sounds pretty straightforward given that you have all the right tools on-hand. However, I would prefer it to work straight out of the box with my intended CPU.

I was thinking of buying a AM2+ mobo plus a Phenom II processor. I have read that certain mobos need to be bios updated in order to recognize the new Phenoms.
So my questions is, in the case where my new mobo needs to be flashed with an update, how do i do this without a recognized CPU...
