    Intel i5 vs. AMD 6-Core

Thank you all who replied. I will go ahead and let the person know that she should get the i5 like I had planned on. She was worried about spending the extra $16......and wanted clearification on me saying that intel 4-core will out perform amd 6-core.

    Intel i5 vs. AMD 6-Core

Occasional photo/video/audio editing and graphic design. I should also add that they will be using Adobe Photoshop CS, Photoshop Elements, Nero 9 and DVD Fab 7. P.S. This is a build for somebody else, since I build systems on the side. (I do all the leg work/labor and all the other...

    Intel i5 vs. AMD 6-Core

Ok I am on a budget and came to the conclusion of either the Intel Core i5-2500 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz Socket 1155 processor or the AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Thuban 3.3GHz Socket AM3 processor. I was just wondering if I could get some assistance on performance differences between these...

    Intel 510 Series SSD

Any thoughts on the Intel 510 Series (Elm Crest) SSDSC2MH120A2K5 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD). I am planning on using this one as a OS drive in my new build. Thanks, Brett

Nvidia GTS 450 vs. Nvidia GTS 250

Yeah, I have been thinking about that man. I can get a GTX 460 SE at microcenter instead and end up only paying $46 out of pocket. When you take something back to them they will only give you store credit. But if that doesn't fix the issue, I will have to keep going on the processor and RAM...

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz

No I don't have any extra CPUs laying around. One of my teammates online has a couple dual cores, but I haven't been able to contact them. I talked to a tech friend at work today and he said it might be the RAM. I don't really believe that's it, but I could be wrong. Any thoughts on that?

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz

Ok guys here's the deal. CPU has never got over 60C, graphics card has been replaced two weeks ago. Installed in an Antec 300 case with 5 120mm fans, PCI fan card next to the graphics card. The two front intake fans blow straight though the back of the heatsink on the graphics card too. Brett

Nvidia GTS 450 vs. Nvidia GTS 250

Ok. I think I figured out the problem. If you concure please let me know. The MB I am using now does not support PCIe 2.0 x16 only PCIe x16. Could this be the reason I am having problems since both of my video cards are PCIe 2.0 x16 interface? Brett

Nvidia GTS 450 vs. Nvidia GTS 250

I have heard over the years that AMD/ATI don't have the performance capability that NVidia does. Has this change in the past few years or am I wrong? Brett

    Should I use 1 SSD or 2

Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) Read = Up to 415 MB/s (SATA 6Gb/s) Write = Up to 175 MB/s (SATA 6Gb/s) Does anybody know what the Read/Write specs are for at SATA 3Gb/s since my MB doesn't support SATA III? Thanks, Brett

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz

I should also add, that I replace the p5g41c-m lx board with an ASRock G31M-S R2.0 LGA 775 Intel G31 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard. I was thinking that I was having the heat issues again when I took my video card out and put it in my wife's pc. Also I replaced the thermal compound on the...

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz

The first board was Asus p5k, second one was Asus p5g41c-m lx. The first one was RMAd and asus said there was a crack in the MB itself, they "fixed" it and sent me the same board back. It worked fine for a couple months, then same issues again. So I bought the p5g41c-m lx as a replacement...

Nvidia GTS 450 vs. Nvidia GTS 250

I am selling my current system to my brother-in-law cause he wanted a computer that could handle the games he plays online. The onboard graphics is not quite good enough so it has to have a video card. I replaced the PSU first since it was failing, then still had video issues so I replace the...

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz

I have installed this Q6600 on four different boards now, 3 ASUS boards and now 1 ASRock board. I had overheating issues with the ASUS boards, could the processor have been damaged while that was going on. Now I have put a new power supply, MB & graphics card in my system and still get video...
