Asus ATI 4850 display problem on DVI

update- I installed 8.8 a few weeks back and it blue screened my PC. uninstalled and went back to the asus (8.6) drivers - somewhat stable but still some problems. I had read on the web somewhere that someone had a similar problem, and was able to get around it by uninstalling the ati CCC...

Asus ATI 4850 display problem on DVI

I'll have to give that a try - I was looking at the release notes and it looks like they fixed quite a bit. gotta be driver related - I told the ATI driver to swap which display it considers display #1 and now the other monitor has the problem. Only a driver could do that?

Asus ATI 4850 display problem on DVI

Anyone have any ideas on this? I have the asus ATI 4850 video card - 2 monitors connected via DVI one is a 19 the other a 24. I notice the 24 flashes/glitches quite a bit. it's always in response to something I am doing - ie opening a webpage or moving a window or something - the even can...

To Partition or not to Partition???

For the most part, though I just bought a game, I'll probably throw that on D.

To Partition or not to Partition???

Hey Guys, Thanks for the feedback. ok, yeah I have 640GB drives not 640MB, I corrected my post thanks... they are the WD6400AAKS's I have them in raid 1 (mirror) not raid 0 (stripe) as was mentioned, drives are cheap enough that it made sense for me to have a mirror. I will still backup...

    Just purchased the FHD2400-good deal?

I just got mine from Tiger Direct for $439. I live near an outlet store so I paid tax, but no shipping. The box appears brand new. They just got more stock on these today. Frys had the 2401 on sale for $429 last week - that was the first time I had seen one of these monitors. I was hooked...

Which budget video card for vista?

I was in a similar situation as you. I bought a 3450 based card that had a fanless heatsink and 2 dvi connectors for $50 the 'vista experience' index for 3d graphics was a 4 if I remember correctly. My criteria was that I wanted a fanless card for a server, and I wanted 2 DVI ports. being...

    Best 4850 card out there?

I would skip the asus card, I have one and I've read a few things that make me wish I had bought another brand. For starters, all the 4850 cards run hot. Asus provides a program to control fan speed, which can bring down heat - this is a good thing. The bad thing is, without this program...

To Partition or not to Partition???

Hey Guys, I've got to setup Vista tomorrow, just wondering what the current thoughts are on partitioning. I have 2 640GB drives. I plan to mirror them, and just wondering what the current thoughts are on partitioning it into say a 200GB C drive with the remainder as D vs just one big C...

Vista Business 64bit vs. Server 2008

My 2 cents.. If you're an IT guy, and you think you'd like to mess around with stuff, and given that you have access to both at the same cost, then here's some stuff to consider... Virtual machines run faster on Server 2008 with Hyper-v than they do on vista with virtual PC 2007. - if...

    PCB layers of Asus P5Q boards(7 P45/ 4 P43?)

I never counted the layers, but I've had a PRO, and E and now a Deluxe. The pro had just enough issues to have me Return it for a deluxe. I just got it installed today, so It'll be a day before memtest shows if the swap made any difference. On top of that there was another bios update for...

How good is Asus's six engine for OC'?

The EPU thing does bring power saving features to the table. I wonder if theres a way to combine the BIOS settings with the EPU. I think you can still set multiplier and voltages while the CPU is set to [Auto] in the bios

    BIOS "auto" voltages on P5Q-Pro

My P5Q Pro posts with 4x2gig dimms. overall seems to be a decent board, but I'm sending it back to get a P5Q Deluxe instead. It may prove foolish, as it'll cost me extra $$, but right now I'm not able to overclock my E8400. I may just have a non-overclockable 8400, but to put my mind at...

Need Help finding URL of thermal paste review!

Hi, I remember reading a review of different thermal paste - I thought on tomshardware. The review compared a bunch of commercial paste such as Arctic Silver 5 and others, as well as the goop that comes stock on the newer intel CPU's (ala E8400) From what I recall, the intel stuff...
