Alright, I just checked my aquamark again and got a 70843 with the new 76.44 drivers. By the way that's stock GPU timings of 370 and 1.0.
My GFX are 9996
and CPU are 12155
That's why I think you are CPU limited. Do you have all the latest drivers? Sounds like a motherboard or a driver...
BFG told me that the single-fan units were used because the twin-fan heat-sinks were not finished in time when they sold the first cards.
I wouldn't know which one is better for heat, but my card is RMA right now because one of the pretty, blue fans busted in half.
I run my 3000+ at 280x9 with memory also at 280. It runs stable in all of my games and applications. I use RM Clock which drops the cpu multiplier to 5x when idle. That drops the idle temps anywhere from 28C to 33C. Load is 50C to 55C.
Memory timings are 2.5, 3, 3, 10, 1T
Your probably right but I think everyone is worrying too much. These cards just run hot. If they aren't being damaged by the heat then there is no problem.
I talked to a BFG tech guy last night and this is what he said about my 6800 GT OC. The accepted temps are:
idle: 10C above your CPU temp.
load: 30C above your CPU temp.
He said that if your CPU is running at 60C then 90C load is just fine.
He said 90C load is nothing to worry about...
Card: BFG Geforce 6800GT OC
Cooling : Stock
Drivers: 76.10 Guru3d
Clocks: 370mhz core/ 1.0 Ghz mem Stock
Temp idle: 58C gpu
Temp load: 91C gpu
Should I be worried? 91C when I'm playing Far Cry. I think I might be under powering the card. Riva tuner monitoring says i'm running on the...
Hello,
I have a Neo2 board with a 3000+ Winchester. I want to get fan control similar to the MSI's core center software for Cool&Quiet. I have tried SpeedFan software but I can't get it to automatically control the CPU fan.
What are my options for fan control?

1.40-1.45 V is the accepted range for Winchesters. My Neo2 board undervolts a little at 1.38V. I increased the voltage to 1.45 and my temperatures went down a good 7 degrees C. At 1.38V I was idling at 40C, at 1.45V I idle at 33C.
I use the MSI K8N Neo2. My 3000+ can hit 280ish and benchmark fine. It is absolutely stable at 260-270FSB with 9x multiplier. That's 1:1 with memory. I use 2x512 OCZ el plat 2 sticks at 2.5, 4, 4, 10, 1T. The memory will go past 290+ no problem. That's at 1.45 CPU Volts and 2.7 V memory...
Here's what I have:
ADA3000DIK4BI
CBBHD 0449 GPBW
MSI K8N NEO2
I'm able to run completely stable at 267x9, 1:1 with memory. Prime95 stable for over 8 hours(I stopped it). It runs idle at 33 deg C and loads around 50-54 deg C. Windows will boot with it at 290x9 but isn't very stable...
