    Agreed, Go for the 30" and get one or two 20" non-wide to go w/ it now or later. My friend picked up a 20" for $130. You can pick up a 30" for around $800 used w/ warranty. With the rest, you could easily pick up two 20".

    Agreed. Think e5200 would be best. BUT, you could get e2180 or e2200 and overclock it a bit. It'd only save you about $10 usd though. Buying used is also an option. plenty of cheap e2180 bouncing around.

    gaming wise, you'll probably be more limited by the GPU. I'd just get the e5200 for cheap and overclock it. You can get them up to 3.7 - 3.8 which is only .2 - .4 ghz less than a e8X00. At the least, you'd be spending about $40 more used or $80 more new. That's about double the cost of the e5200...

    these prices are from a few weeks ago, but something like this would be good. I think you can get an 8800gt for the same price now. I'd either use one of his old hard drives, or buy one used. If you use one of his old hard drives, you might see if you can stretch the budget for a 4850.

    Wait for OLED? I dunno when they're going to start making them mainstream. Only one I know of is Sony's 11" display for $2500 lol. My 30" puts off a lot of heat too, I just deal with it. I bought watercooling so I could run my computer at 27C or 80F anyway.
