I don't have vista so only dx9, but I got similar marks to the 8800GTS 640 in the benchmark (in min and avg). This is probably because the ingame bench is only about a minute long, whereas hardocp's benchmark was a few minutes, in which time there was already way too much unused data filling up...
no, this is an actual bug which has been known for a long time. The memory in both the GTS320 and 640 cards are slowly eaten up in certain games (jericho is one) and is not cleared properly. The memory that is not cleared remains and other data is heaped on top of it until the card needs to...
A lot of GTS320 users have complained about the alt-tab bug being present in WiC and I think HardOCP's conclusion about the 320 models is a bit premature. They even neglected to analyze the results of their own benchmark - look at the 320's performance as compared to the other 2 cards in the...
Businesses get special deals with their shippers which is why newegg is able to offer cheap yet fast shipping prices to begin with. You will see that items that sometimes have free shipping have the same price as when they don't (I ordered a 226BW monitor which had 19 dollar shipping a week...
yeah, but not 2 ways  Also newegg often times DOES have free shipping for video cards, and even when it doesn't you usually get a good deal of like 6 or 7 dollars. Totally worth what you save in the long run anyways..
Don't forget that you need to pay shipping BOTH ways (= +20 or more $). TBH upgrading from the 320 to the 640 isn't worth it at this point. Go for the GTX or wait for the next series of cards. Or just be happy that you have a very good performance card that can play games at medium-high...
But then again the 8800GTS 640 doesn't perform that great with AA in bioshock either at the said resolutions. Judging from all the posts about crysis performance I'm thinking that this game is more heavy on the raw speed of the card than the memory. The dev said that an 8800GTS should play it...
the 163.44's actually boosted my 3dm06 score by a few hundred. i have my 320 OC'd to 610/910. I got 9400~ with the previous driver and 9750 with the .44's.
For a stock clocked GTX that sounds right (they usually score 11000 @ stock). Also you're not gonna notice much of an improvement in dirt because it's not really making use out of the extra memory in the GTX, only the higher memory bandwidth and stream processors. Over all I'd say not to expect...
320mb gts performs as well as the 640 version in 90% of games at resolutions 1900x1200 and under without AA. At 1680x1050 it will chop though most games out there even with some AA. In reality any game optimized worth a damn should never be using over 300mb of vram at any decent settings. I've...
You'd have to go on the evga site, which would list the MSRP of whatever card you want to upgrade to. For example, I also have an evga 320 which I paid 280 for on newegg and got a 20$ mail-in rebate for (= 260$). Say for whatever reason I wanted to upgrade to the 640 edition which is listed MSRP...
If the dev says that the 8800GTS will only run Crysis at 1280x res with max details then I am *guessing* that memory isn't the issue (unless it's using more than 700mb at 1600x1200 and up... in which case the developers need to be spanked). Far cry was very good at handling textures & texture...
at 1280x1024 the 320 GTS will rip through any game out there maxed w/ 2 or 4x AA. If you get a new monitor that supports 1900xXXXX or higher resolution and plan on running games thus, then you will start running out of memory (especially with AA enabled). I have a 22" Samsung 226BW and it's...
