It dosent have a fan.It is totally quiet except when it is correcting voltage you can hear a couple of clicks.

Thats part of the reason I upgraded to Dual core. Plus I just couldn't resist the 170 for $115.00 I think these intel fanboys are getting worried. I wonder what else AMD has up their sleeve.

I didnot have to reformat. All did was set the cpu settings to auto in bios--- install the 170 ---and I did the AMD fix and the Microsoft fix. The computer is faster than the SD3700 @ 2655 MHZ.it replaced. And it totally stable.

Ok I am having that same problem. When I overclocked at first it would restart. Then I backed of the overclock to a previous stable overclock. Now it just shuts down completely. Cooling is not the problem. Shutdowns are random. Load or no load. It does super PI with no problem. I Was...

I did that same thing going from a SD3700@2655 MHZ 1.35volts To the 170 I should be good for at least a year until all this dual/quad core / AM2 stuff is sorted out.

I thought the optys were better because they have a larger L2 cache. Id say go for the 170 because of the better multiplier.
