Thats part of the reason I upgraded to Dual core. Plus I just couldn't resist the 170 for $115.00
I think these intel fanboys are getting worried. I wonder what else AMD has up their sleeve.
pistyll n00bie-- Good that you got it fixed. I was getting ready to start changing parts too.
To remove the IHS you need a real thin razor blade and cut a little at a time. The cooler does fit a little loser but with the IHS on it was real tight. It is tight enough to work properly though.

That is just what I did. I am going to wait until this dual core quad core ---AM2 and AM3 stuff gets sorted out.
Go with the opty they are overclocking well.
I didnot have to reformat.
All did was set the cpu settings to auto in bios--- install the 170 ---and I did the AMD fix and the Microsoft fix.
The computer is faster than the SD3700 @ 2655 MHZ.it replaced. And it totally stable.

I did that same thing going from a SD3700@2655 MHZ 1.35volts To the 170
I should be good for at least a year until all this dual/quad core / AM2 stuff is sorted out.
Shame on you. You should know better than that.Poor computer it should be taken away from him and replaced with a old K6 or somthing.
Sorry I got caught up in the moment. But can you say compressed air?
