Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
When I first looked at that PSU I thought, no way. Then I tried to see who made the PSU, which is a company called Super Flower. Might not sound impressive, but recently they have proven to be a company that challenges the top tier producers while keeping cost low.
I normally get my PSU...
If you want to keep your case there might be a solution. One reviewer noticed, dispite Gigabyte's information, that the case has holes for E-ATX. See here for more information.
A GTX 580 is a bit long a maybe a bit too long, one person here removed the button cage to fit a GTX 580 into the case
Depending on the person a case can be a long term or short term solution. For me I use my cases for quite a long time, actually I have only bought 3 cases the last 8 years. Two CoolerMaster Stacker and one Antec cabinet (can't remember the name and sold after a years use). So now I have only two...
IF we are into the money-no-issue league, then this would be a very cool and good case for your built:
Coolermaster COSMOS II
Received many praises for its quality and innovations.
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Multithreaded programming using C++ and Qt4, LaTex, Pointcloud processing (Microsoft Kinect).
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
Around 1000-1300.
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S...
In my search for confirmation that 3930K was supposed to support VT-d, then I stumpled across this topic about 3930K replace
Edit: Seems there is a bit confusion whether it is indeed possible or not
A point to remember is that the -K processors lacks VT-d, which Q9450 have. So you will move to a processor with less virtualisations capabilities and performance.
I have taken the choice of motherboard up for revision. I had an earlier look at AsRock P67 Fatal1ty
I am not sure if P67 is a step down from Z68, the biggest difference I see is the ability to use the internal graphics, not a deal-breaker for me. I am just wondering if companies have used the...
I made some additional research and it turns out that Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z/GEN3 is actually equipped with a realtech sound chip, what a let down.
I was a bit unsure about bringing it up, but one more reason for choosing the maximus was that it gave an impression of being more stable. I do...
My choice of the motherboard comes from several reasons, although mediocre. First of all there is the onboard sound card, since I will be working in an environment with plenty of people and machines I will properly listen to a great deal of music.
Second is design, I find many of Asus's...

The only reason to why VT-d has something to do with overclocking is due to the sale strategy Intel has. With Sandy Bridge Intel introduced very strict limitations on overclocking, but a very few models, the xxxx-K models, had unlocked multipliers. For reasons unknown these models had special...
Might a bit late posting this to the thread, but I give a shot anyway:
I do not understand the talk about the 2500K and 2600K here, all xxxx-K CPU's from Intel are crippled regarding virtualization due to the lack of direct contact to the hardware (VT-d). Maybe it is to avoid companies to...
A bit off-topic:
What the hell are you going to use the computer for with that insane spec. :D
I am myself a master student at the University of Southern Denmark and our Vision department, which works with the newest cutting edge algorithms and have several EU founded projects do not have...
