I agree with the two previous posters mentioning the Func 1030 or Archetype, I have had mine for years and I swear by it. I am about to get my second one for traveling soon.

Well you may have already tried this, but have you tried booting the Vista install disk on a working computer to see if it progresses into the installation menu without the BSOD? It could be the files on the disk are corrupt? I am just throwing something out there to try to help I know it must...
