    Dell U2412M

Got one, too. It's not perfect, but I'm pretty satisfied. I have no issues with backlight bleed, and even IPS glow doesn't bother me (of course, there is some), guess the low brightness helps a lot (currently have it at 32). I'm pleased that brightness can be nicely tuned down. (as a side note...

    Dell U2412M

Having read the Prad review and skimming over a longish discussion here about "blue" on the U2412M, I'm left with questions and speculations... and would appreciate some clarifications. Are the mentioned deviations of the blue color channel actually apparent to the naked eye? How much "worse"...

Turn Overdrive off, you don't need it.

The HP ZR24w Scaling Issues Thread

AFAIK a working sRGB preset on the LP2475w would require a change in hardware. That rarely happens. And they had to know that it's crap from the very beginning. If it is just a bug in software, it's easily fixed. So why not fix it? Either they just don't care as long as it sells... Or, they...

Lower them. You just shouldn't go too low, you will lose contrast and probably get some banding (look here to find out: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/gradient.php). Personally I think leaving brightness as low as possible (and adjusting R,G,B) will give you the best results on this monitor.

    HP ZR24w

So I don't know. :D Maybe my eyes are just oversensitive... What I really like about this monitor is that it's sRGB and has good colors out-of-the-box. I'm not an expert but TFTCentral's calibration settings seem not optimal to me. You lose a lot of colors with their settings.

    HP ZR24w

For me it's just the opposite way: At 50% brightness my eyes would melt. Of course it depends also on your color settings. If you're turning colors down (actually the sRGB preset does that too), it won't be as bright.

"OSD Brightness 0, Luminance 91cd/m²" seriously?!

    HP ZR24w

Mine is set to brightness 0, draws about 40W. With the blinding defaults (90%) it drew about 80W. Also, mine just gets warm, no matter how long I use it.

Correct, I forgot to mention this, sorry. There is no negative ghosting in "Overdrive Off" mode. Judging from my picture and those @tftcentral.co.uk, the behavior is very similar to the NEC EA231WMi.

    HP ZR24w

I did some testing because I wanted to compare Overdrive On/Off, and after all the comments that the ZR24w is great for gaming must say I'm not really overwelmed by the results. With Overdrive Off (not sure if "off" really means off) there is quite some ghosting and Overdrive On seems to make...

    HP ZR24w

I concur with all the people who say this monitor is too bright. The first thing I did was turning it down to 0% -- and it still was very bright. (Of course it depends on the ambient light, but I don't think I will ever use it with a brightness higher than, say, 20%). From my impression, the...

    Dell U2410

FYI, my last U2410 that I had bought as "new" also had 8 backlight hours on it. I returned it the same day (not because of that but because it was worse than the previous).

Why is the ZR24w popular at all?

As I see it, the answer is simple: Lack of alternatives (for the price). If you want a non-TN panel, value for money, sRGB and don't need all the advanced features, you'll definitely consider a HP ZR24w or a NEC EA231WMi. IMHO 16:10 beats 16:9 -- and voilà, there we have the ZR24w. Makes perfect...

Oh shut up! I want the scaler to just work as you would expect. That's true; still it's odd that the OSD doesn't show 1920x1200...
