Got one, too. It's not perfect, but I'm pretty satisfied. I have no issues with backlight bleed, and even IPS glow doesn't bother me (of course, there is some), guess the low brightness helps a lot (currently have it at 32). I'm pleased that brightness can be nicely tuned down. (as a side note...
Having read the Prad review and skimming over a longish discussion here about "blue" on the U2412M, I'm left with questions and speculations... and would appreciate some clarifications.
Are the mentioned deviations of the blue color channel actually apparent to the naked eye?
How much "worse"...
AFAIK a working sRGB preset on the LP2475w would require a change in hardware. That rarely happens. And they had to know that it's crap from the very beginning.
If it is just a bug in software, it's easily fixed. So why not fix it?
Either they just don't care as long as it sells...
Or, they...
Lower them.
You just shouldn't go too low, you will lose contrast and probably get some banding (look here to find out: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/gradient.php).
Personally I think leaving brightness as low as possible (and adjusting R,G,B) will give you the best results on this monitor.
So I don't know. :D Maybe my eyes are just oversensitive...
What I really like about this monitor is that it's sRGB and has good colors out-of-the-box.
I'm not an expert but TFTCentral's calibration settings seem not optimal to me. You lose a lot of colors with their settings.
For me it's just the opposite way: At 50% brightness my eyes would melt.
Of course it depends also on your color settings. If you're turning colors down (actually the sRGB preset does that too), it won't be as bright.
Mine is set to brightness 0, draws about 40W. With the blinding defaults (90%) it drew about 80W.
Also, mine just gets warm, no matter how long I use it.
Correct, I forgot to mention this, sorry. There is no negative ghosting in "Overdrive Off" mode. Judging from my picture and those @tftcentral.co.uk, the behavior is very similar to the NEC EA231WMi.
I did some testing because I wanted to compare Overdrive On/Off, and after all the comments that the ZR24w is great for gaming must say I'm not really overwelmed by the results. With Overdrive Off (not sure if "off" really means off) there is quite some ghosting and Overdrive On seems to make...
I concur with all the people who say this monitor is too bright. The first thing I did was turning it down to 0% -- and it still was very bright. (Of course it depends on the ambient light, but I don't think I will ever use it with a brightness higher than, say, 20%).
From my impression, the...
FYI, my last U2410 that I had bought as "new" also had 8 backlight hours on it. I returned it the same day (not because of that but because it was worse than the previous).
As I see it, the answer is simple: Lack of alternatives (for the price).
If you want a non-TN panel, value for money, sRGB and don't need all the advanced features, you'll definitely consider a HP ZR24w or a NEC EA231WMi.
IMHO 16:10 beats 16:9 -- and voilà, there we have the ZR24w.
Makes perfect...
Most probably it is. The question is, will they fix it? And if they do, will they make the update available for those who already have the monitor?
I'd say this is just an oversight and they will fix it in an upcoming firmware (the fix should be relatively simple), provided customers are...
Bad, really bad... I'd say it's an oversight. AFAIK it wasn't possible to firmware-update the LP2475w, so I'm pretty sure it's the same with the ZR24w... :(
I just want to let you know that on my U2410s I could clearly see the tints in sRGB mode... I can also recommend the lagom viewing angle test, reveals tinting pretty well.
Has anyone got this working? I can live without 1:1 scaling but if aspect ratio scaling is not working, then...
Not sure if I should place an order...
All that FOV reasoning doesn't matter to me, as I'm using my PC for a lot more than just gaming (actually i don't find much time for that nowadays). I remember playing Q3 at ridiculously low (non-wide) resolutions with a highly increased FOV, yeah those were the days... And then there are also...
Sounds good enough for me. :) (It certainly won't compete with a "polarized" NEC, and I don't expect that.)
I also hope it has a better black than the U2410, something like the LP2475w. Anyway, I care more about the glow.
I've seen the same on the U2410; though I don't really know what causes...
Clear thing for me, 16:10 beats 16:9 in every aspect. I find the extra vertical space quite useful.
I'm afraid however, a transition to 16:9 will be inevitable as the price makes the demand.
I don't know which movies you're talking about but afaik the majority of movies has an aspect ratio of...
So the ZR24w doesn't have that corner glow? Very good news. I was afraid all current IPS panels have it.
Thanks also for pointing out the tinting.
A small but handy feature. Good that HP kept it.
Now I'm almost glad that my U2410s all had tinting issues, so I can finally get this...
Thanks to bb23, chris_n, and tordogs for the noise testing. It is very important to me that it is silent. (though I guess we can't be sure yet if the same is true for European voltage)
Reportedly good AG coating, no tints, low input lag (again thank you, bb23), sounds all very promising. :cool...
Hmm, looks quite good from what I've heard/seen so far...
The buts:
- Only 1 DVI
- seems to have no 1:1 scaling option :(
I'd be interested what difference H2-IPS makes. Probably none.
For those interested, prad.de has reviewed the U2410. (currently only available in German)

I received (and returned) my 3rd U2410 this week. It had again the blue tint issue, and also something which looked like there was a piece of dirt between panel and backlight. Really strange, I haven't seem something like that before, it moved with the viewing angle and darkened about 4 pixels...
wow! that sounds pretty insolent to me.
overstated? not at all!
From my own experience and what people are saying here, i can tell that tint issues are quite common with the U2410. Of course it's a matter of luck (which i seem to not have) and noone really knows what percentage is actually...
I've just got my 2nd U2410. 0 bad pixels - good. no red/green tints - good. The presets also looked good. BUT:
On the box it says Rev A01 and on that thing you can pull out from the left side of the monitor, too. Nonetheless I can see the dithering and the factory menu reveals "M1F190". Of...
It's good to know that there are tint-free panels around. I've just ordered another one, hope I am luckier this time...
My first looked refurbished. I suppose most A01 are, currently. Not that I would mind, but changes are higher that they suffer from the tint-issue...
I've used http://autopattern.maettig.com/testbild-pixelfehler.html. Or you could use http://www.doihaveadeadpixel.com/
There are a lot of others (ask google). But black or white is sufficient.
You can see backlight bleed on a black screen but my case there is practically none. Not to be...
According to the data sheet (see #1), the ZR24w supports 60Hz only (regardless of resolution).
For monitors which are capable of 75Hz in lower than native resolutions it would be interesting if DP makes any difference... But I doubt it.
Sounds like a good idea. Will Dell accept an exchange because of the tint issue? I've been also thinking of ordering a second one, so I could try them side-by-side and see which is better and return the other while I still have that possibility.
About the other modes: They look all greenish...
I see... Well I guess I'll (have to) get used to it. Thanks for the explanation.
All in all, the U2410 is a good monitor. And I don't see a better alternative (for that price) at the moment. I'm still curious about the upcoming models but this thing is gonna stay for a while. Hmm, I sure...
So I received my U2410 yesterday. Rev. A01.
1.) I looked for a pink/green tint and ... found it. There's definitely a slight pink (left) and green (right) tint. Though it appears to be barely noticable in practice. Now I remember that I've read (on the lp2475w thread iirc) that the tint can...
WTF? I didn't say anything like that. Just that import duties apply to the EU and the US likewise. While those might be higher in the EU (I don't have those numbers and I don't claim to have) but I highly doubt they are THAT much higher. And then there are those monitors assembled in Europe...
