Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I saw a 32", high definition (1080p) Samsung LCD, it was at a good price, i would recommend that one. Here is one, but you might find it at a lower price. http://www.adorama.com/SSGLN32A550.html?emailquote=Y&sid=121846491262081
Yes i've got my old rig working as my mom's computer, she is always complaining about the rigs speed but i believe it still works well, although for me the loading times are unberable. The specs are:
Athlon XP 1800+
MSI KT3 Ultra Mainboard
384 MB of RAM PC-133 I think ( I had 512 MB on it...
512 mb for XP is adequate.
To a comment made before, the updates that ubuntu downloads actually replace files so it really won take that much diskspace
Download via bitorrent, I use this one right now and it works perfectly. My laptop came with a Windows installation inside the hard drive and it broke, so i had to replace the HD and used this copy with the key in the sticker. The torrent can be found here:
With that much RAM i wouldn't use XP, it would be really slow, the safest bet is to go with Xubuntu I think, but if you get a bit more RAM then go with XP or even better with Ubuntu.
The real problem i have with Vista is that some hardware i have does not work well with it. In my laptop i had video issues (no 3d driver support for a VIA chip) and frequent crashes. It was enough of a hassle for me to just switch back to XP.
For my desktop computer most things ran fine, a...
Build the rig and it wouldn't power on, I later found out that i needed to connect the 4 pin connector to the MOBO apart from the traditional one. Never had seen one of those, that was about an hour of headscratching.
I never had issues with blackness of my LCD, in fact the contrast is better IMO to my old CRT. I do tweak the video card drivers so maybe that's the difference.
i own a botha CRT and an LCD over here. At full resolution the CRT refresh rate is lower than the LCD. Also in the CRT you see some flickering, it has an almost ultrasonic beeeeeep when you turn it on. My CRT is the same brand as the LCD
In gaming i like the contrast of the LCD, and the...
I had a 17" CRT and recently bought a 17" LCD, can't go back anymore to the old technology. In an LCD the refresh rate is outstanding, the brightness too, in gaming its just awesome. To me LCD is more satysfying. I got a 17" Samsung 740n.
Dude that looks so much like a firewall problem. I had this problem a few days ago here at my office and it was Norton Antivirus, which has a firewall. The weird thing is that you know that is not the router because you tried another one, that would have been my first guess. Some routers have an...
Yes it can be done go for athlon socket AM2 so it is upgradeable, 1 gig of ram, uhm a radeon x1600, a small hard drive and a dvd unit. Youll need to spend the whole 600 i think. The PSU question is a good one, because if it malfunctions you are risking the MB or the processor, it happened to me...
uhm if you don´t have RAID, deactivate the RAID option and all that stuff. I had that problem a few weeks ago, it wasnt a minute but maybe 20 seconds, i did this and now boots are faster
