    This is what I'm hoping for. I'm going to use the WD disk analyzer program and then go from there. Possibly try the drives on a different controller. I already tried different cables. We'll see if I can come up with anything when I open the case back up this weekend.

    Well, I'm not convinced that the drive actually failed. If you had read my post completely, I stated that the Promise bios sees both the drives, but designates one of them as "drive 1" and the other as "free"

    Thank you, I am aware of that. I don't have the screen available to me at the moment, but I wasn't trying to define a new array, i believe the option said "rebuild array".

    Yes, I tried recreating the array already, couldn't do it. I know about the risks of a raid0 array, I only run apps and os on it, except I was in the process of shuffling some files around, which I would really like to recover!
