Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Thought I would check in and give an update as this thread is getting some recent replies.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I was looking at Amazon EC2 instances for a while, but it gets really expensive quickly. I also looked at some 1U servers and I'm pretty sure my wife would kill me...
I'll have to look into that.
Unfortunately yes, the problems I work on boil down to large scale optimization. The smaller problems I've been working on lately can take several days to run on 200 cores.
Thanks for the advice, very helpful! I was hoping it would be a little easier to transplant things so I could get bigger heatsinks and keep the fan speeds and noise at a tolerable level.
I was initially thinking I would put them in my home office, but with complete servers I don't think I could...
I'll be finishing my Ph.D. in this next year and afterwards won't have access to a valuable cluster resource(10,000+ cores, etc...). I'd like to explore the option of putting together a small home cluster(I'm thinking something around 4-5 nodes, 16 cores per node). I'm looking for some guidance...
According to Dell, I can run the following just fine:
Nvidia NVS 510
Nvidia K20C
What I would like to do(as the K20C is 3K+), is run a gtx titan card instead of the K20C, together the cards are under the stated 300W graphics power limit. However, the titan requires a 6 and 6+2 power...
Wow, so nearly a month has gone by on this.
Shortly after my previous post, I had someone give me an RMA number and then shipped the board via UPS ground. Earlier this week I received an email that a replacement had been shipped. While everything took much longer than I would have liked, I...
Had some contact with Asrock support. The support guy was really nice, he had me reseat the cpu(which I had already done), then clear the CMOS and try a single ram stick in each slot.
Unfortunately this didn't change anything, the board won't even post with a single ram stick in the C1 slot...
Tried switching to ram profile 1 in the bios, I also took everything apart, on inspection everything looks perfect.
Still not working and I think the board is still under warranty so I went ahead and contacted Asrock support. This is my first experience of this sort, hopefully it doesn't turn...
I was hoping to get some help diagnosing/fixing a problem.
I have an Asrock X79 Extreme4 motherboard with a 4x4GB GSkill Sniper memory kit installed. I've had this setup since June of 2012 and haven't had any problems until now.
The ddr3 stick in slot 'C' isn't recognized anymore. Rotating...
I use either vim or gedit for the most part (almost all my work is in C++).
Every couple of months I will go try Eclipse with the C++ plugin. I like the idea of a good IDE, but I haven't had the best luck with them. Somehow, I often get eclipse into a funny state where the intelligent code...
Additionally, some cases don't shield the wiring to hook the mobo up to the front side audio ports on the case, this can be another place where EM interference can be introduced.
