Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Right I've updated, and memtest is still failing.
I've found all of the voltage settings in my BIOS:
MCH Core (no idea what that means btw): 1.1v
DRAM: 1.8v
I just took a look at the specs on Corair's site, and it says:
"Tested at JEDEC standard latency settings
(5-5-5-18) at 1.9V"...
Okies I'll update the BIOS and see if that solves it.
The RAM itself: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/4GB-(2x2GB)-Corsair-TwinX-XMS2-DDR2-PC2-6400-(800)-240-Pins-Non-ECC-Unbuffered-CAS-5-5-5-18
Right, this is hurting my poor head. The machine failed to start again this morning (tried several times) so I opened it up, took the RAM out and put it back in, and whaddya know, it works, so I've run memtest all over the shop. Firstly, both the sticks. The second test get's (quickly) up to...
I have not. I tried it with the previous sticks but it ran for a few seconds then restarted... would that have been because of the RAM or was I doing something wrong?
Ok first of all you may remember my recent-ish post (and grand cock-up on my part) here: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1397237
To be honest this only *kind of* ties into this, in as much as the RAM actually turned out to be faulty (as verified by Scan when I returned it to them)...
First things first, this a new build, and the specs are:
Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L
Corsair DDR2 (2x2GB)
XFX GeForce 9800 GTX
Intel Q6600 2.4GHz
The Windows task manager is only reporting 2.6GB of RAM. I have:
Tried each chip individually in each slot on the mobo, each time taskman reports 2GB...
I honestly can't remember and since it's refusing to boot now...
I just tried it again with only the GPU and nothing. I did notice earlier though, that the HDD doesn't make any noise ("wind up") if the optical (SATA) is plugged in. That's not normal is it?
>> So, will it even POST without the drives connected? Do you have another PSU you could try? Do you have a less powerful vidcard (PCI or PCI-E) you could try?
Yes, with only the HDD or only the DVD connected, it POST's. I have tried my other bog-standard 550W Q-Tec PSU to no avail and I don't...
So I just built a new PC. Woot? No.
Here's the specs before I delve into the problem:
Jeantech Storm 700W PSU
XFX 650i Ultra
XFX 8800GTS 640MB
Intel Core 2 Duo E6320
2GB CorsairSo t'is all built. I turn it on, everything "winds up" (fans, HDD, DVD makes a bonk sound - the usual) except the...
I'll run memtest later just to be sure. How much is a decent PSU going to cost?
I'm going to run a bit of a test when I get back from college this evening. I'll use my PC without playing games and see how long it takes to come to a slow down. I've got a feeling it might not until I start...
