Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
In addition to making sure that it's managed, you also need to make sure that it supports LACP, 802.3ad, teaming, bonding, whatever they happen to call link aggregation.
First of all, I'm assuming that you're hooking your team up to a managed switch with link aggregation setup. Without a managed switch you'll never see the benefits of teamed NIC's. I've personally had a two port link aggregate transfer over 300MBps which is well over the spec for two gigabit...
I built an 18u rack a couple years ago for my final project at DeVry. I built mine to be a little more "beefy" than those other two examples that you found. I used 1x1 steel tubing for all of it and I'm pretty sure I could have parked my car on it. It was a lot of work to get it assembled...
I'm assuming you are talking about being able to create the image over the network. Unfortunately that just isn't possible with Mac's. In order to create the image you will have to be physically connected to the server using a firewire cable. Put the master computer into Target Disk mode by...
I use SuperDuper and love it. I have 2x250GB's in a RAID0 and 1x500GB in my Mac Pro. I have SuperDuper setup to backup the RAID to the 500GB nightly. SuperDuper will allow you to copy all the data once and then after that it will only copy what has changed since the last backup (Incremental...
I'm in charge of the imaging for the school district that I consult for. We use Bombich's NetRestore which relies on OSX's NetBoot to function. I've used NetBoot minimally but my expertise is with NetRestore. I'm not sure if you're trying to create the image of just transfer it. If you're...
I just got mine in last friday and it is an absolute beast, you will not regret it. I'm using bootcamp and parallels. Parallels runs extremely well for me. IMHO, the only reason to use bootcamp is if you play games, which I do a little of. With Windows in full screen mode you'll forget that...
Stage 1 Gentoo. Can't remember how long it took to bootstrap. Stage 1's are really not that much harder, the handbook's are super easy to follow. It just takes a whole lot longer.
Yeah, holding down T will put it in target boot mode, not allow it to boot from the firewire drive. If you hold down the Option key it should bring up a menu of boot devices. Then you can just choose the firewire cdrom, assuming that it is working correctly.
External HDDs are always going to be slower than internal ones (except for external SATA). Firewire drives are faster than USB2.0 but as far as I know, no laptops support booting from firewire drives (iBooks/Powerbooks do, but we're talking PCs). Some of them will boot from USB but I haven't...
I'd go for the second option. I haven't worked on that specific model laptop but if it's like every other laptop in the world, it's a lot easier to add RAM than to upgrade hard drives at a later date. In fact if I were you I'd get the faster harddrive and then just buy another 512 from newegg...
Right now its being used for a proof of concept design for my senior project @ DeVry. It's running Gentoo and will be a central authentication server for Windows/Linux/Apple users. Its also gonna be doing email, radius and probably vpn. After that its gonna be my gaming computer. Only four...
