I have a e6600 and the intel 975xbx. I love it, although i can't seem to oc it past 30% but it runs at 30% oc with stock voltage and 3.1 ghz is plenty for me, and it was very simple for me to get to 3.1ghz. If you want to push the limit on the oc though it seems there are still issues with the...
So I have a system with a e6600 + the intel BadAxe MoBo and when I adjust the FSB in bios it wont stick past 30% (meaning I can set it to 50% in the bios but when I boot up it still shows 30%). I can use systool to change the PLL clock past 30% but after rebooting I have to preform the same...
with the intel 975x + a good e6600 you might get to 3.5 after you mod the board (conductive pen across some missing jumper locations) to unlock the core voltage, if you have some good cooling.
I am running a e6600 on the intel BadAxe with a Arctic Coller Freezer Pro and my CPU is runnign at 40c idle and 53c load without overclocking it at all. I my chip will overclock but even at 10% i get 57c load temps with dual prime95 running with the same voltage. This seemed on the high side...
I had the same kind of issues on my new system and corrected it by going in the Bios and turning off auto recognizing on my ram and putting in the timings and voltage to the ram manufactures spec. I was running OCZ ram though.
I have a cd with memtest86 on it i will run that when i get home. It isn't truely random because i can run it for 40 minutes idling in windows with no problems, but as soon as I try to run IE or install drivers it crashes.
I put the following pc together and installed windows.
Intel D975XBXLKR Motherboard
Intel Core2 Duo E6600 2.4Ghz
OCZ Gold 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz (2x1024MB) (O261-8016)

I do intend on gaming on this system, howevr my thinking on the x1800xt was that i would either get a dx10 card eventually or get another x1800xt and run crossfire. I dont think I will be doing any serious overclocking and the ram was on sale and in stock that was my reason for getting it...
I know I should have done this earlyer, however; I ordered parts for a new computer and I just wanted to run them by evryone before I actually started putting thigs together to see if anyone knows of any concerns.
Here is what I have ordered:
Intel D975XBXLKR Motherboard
Intel Core2 Duo...
