Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Of course I look this morning and see the local MC just got a shipment of 8700ks, so this conversation about a 7700k may be moot if the extra cost is justifiable.
I’ve been seriously considering a 1900x. I primarily game so I was looking at Coffee Lake to finally get me off Sandy Bridge however since I’m at 4K I’m GPU bound anyway, and the expandability of X399 is appealing.
I was going to wait for the 8700K but it has come to my attention that I can get a 7800X for $350 at MC. Makes me wonder how the two will compare. Do we have any details on Z370 yet? If the two end up comparable going 7800X for X299 may be the way to go.
I've asked a similar question before but this year it is once again relevant. Microcenter is running 7700Ks for $279.99 and my 2500K is looking a bit long in the tooth.
I'm experiencing similar running a 2500K @ 4.5 GHz and a 1080 at 4K. Curious to see what the consensus is, although the thought of some modern mobo features is certainly a compelling argument in and of itself.
