Looking for some recommendations for a Mini LED monitor with the following:

27"
2560x1440
IPS
Matte - no glossy
G Sync Compatible
200-240Hz - I assume once you start going higher you start seeing the price climb.
Ideally a good amount of dimming zones

Seems like there are not a whole lot of offerings. I'm looking at OLED as well, but am leaning towards Mini LED. With OLED there are more options, but Mini LED seems to be quite limited.

Anything that can meet my requirements out there? Most of what I see is VA and/or glossy.

Gaming is important, but also movies and desktop use.

My thread in the Hot Deals section matches what you're looking for.

That is matte right? Specs on paper look good, and for $250 the price seems about right for it. I assume it works well with G Sync, not VRR flicker or anything? Not seeing it on the G Sync compatible list but I assume it should work fine.

This Acer looks decent as well. XV275U F5biipprx. Acer's site says anti glare rather than matte like for some of their other models but I assume it is similar. No official G Sync support either.

Tom's Hardware and PC Gamer have reviews. It has a matte coating, and both FreeSync and G-Sync Compatible.

Does this one allow local dimming to work without HDR? Or you do need to enable HDR in Windows each time you want to play a game/watch a movie with local dimming?
I assume it does, I'll double check when I get the chance, but I always use HDR with these. Unlike other monitors, doing general productivity doesn't always look or work right with HDR, but these seem to handle it fine. Local dimming has 4 modes, Auto, Low, Medium, and High. I just set manually set it to High.

If you can let me know. How is the halo/blooming? I got the Acer XV275U F5biipprx and it is quite bad. Can turn the center of the screen into a bright glow/smudge which looks worse than regular IPS with edge glow to me, so I am likely going to return it. This one is in a similar price range so am interested in it if it does better.

An example (took photo with my phone).

Local dimming off. The camera greatly exaggerates the circular glow from the lights which is essentially not visible to the eye, as well as the back light glow:

Local dimming on, which actually looks quite close to what I see on screen.

Essentially makes the plane a giant glowing blob.

Does the KTC M27T6S do a better job, or is this what most Mini LED look like?

It should be substantially better because it has way more zones. Your Acer has 384 zones, if I'm looking up the right model. The KTC has 1152 zones. The more zones, the smaller the blooming on an object. 1152 isn't enough to have no blooming, but it'll be way less.

Dimming algorithms matter too but number of zones is the big thing for how much blooming you get.

I try to capture it on my phone, but it doesn't do it justice. I don't see a halo like that. Can you send me a link to what you're watching? I've been watching different halo and blooming tests, and I alt-tab between my other IPS non-mini-LED monitors. I can tell the M27T6S handles it much better.

So I figured out a way to make it work decently with Mini LED.

Monitor OSD - SDR
Adaptive Dimming - Fast
Windows HDR - Off

Seems like it is working as intended. Average of Slow Adaptive Dimming looks quite bad with a lot of edge glow, so I need to set it to Fast.

If I enable HDR1000 in the monitor OSD it will look similar and still needs Adaptive Dimming to be get to Fast to get rid of edge glow.

With Adaptive Dimming set to Fast, I can't really see much of a difference between SDR mode and HDR1000.

Enabling HDR in Windows makes the desktop look washed out and text hard to read, and games tend to have the horrific glow shown above.

Typically with a Mini LED, are you supposed to disable HDR (both OSD and in Windows) and only enable it for specific games/applications that support it?
