The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake

I'm pretty pumped for this and really interested to see how linear or not linear it is compared to the original.

They just better not put the breakable weapons in it from the previous modern games.

But we'll know this year at least! 😎

I am guessing November release date. They really did not show much. They will have a direct for it at the end of the summer I bet.

I have a feeling it will play very similarly to the OG (but look a lot prettier).

Kinda surprised that's all they showed, game is coming out this year, so you'd think they'd have a bit more of a sizzle reel. Probably to not take away all the attention from the Star Fox 64 remake.

Nintendo likes to do a dedicated stream for games like these, so maybe next month.

it sure will be interesting. especially if they are trying to go the route of making it more cinematic. i think its likely with the new movie coming out next spring.

I remember in 1997-98 we were unloading a Walmart Semi Truck and these two kids customers came in the backroom asked if we seen this Fu@$%in game?

They were holding a Newspaper flyer for Walmart with golden Zelda cartridge it for Nintendo 64.

ahh yes the golden cartridges.I kinda hope that Nintendo does that again with the this remake.

To me, a game that can be repackaged and successfully sold over and over is a sign of quality game design. It's not entirely nostalgia that sells them, it's to the new crowds on new systems that can also enjoy them.

Hate on them if you want, but Nintendo is one of the few developers that can ask full price for a game for what seems like forever, and people will still pay it, even for used copies.

Nintendo targeted the correct group of people for their games, that being kids. While the PlayStation was a massive success, the N64 was a failure, all things considered. Nostalgia overall tends to be more prominent for childhood, not adulthood, and the PlayStation was mainly teenagers and adults at the time, who don't bond with video games anymore, hence why more N64 games are brought up more in modern times.

I have nostalgia with every console I’ve owned, including the OG PlayStation. Nintendo is just generally better at preserving that nostalgia.

Nintendo does seem to know how to do remakes. Starfox is shaping up to be superb

Even ignoring the fact I'm not at all interested in the visual direction--------I think its also an unusual miss from Nintendo, on visual cohesion. Just about everything has the same specular shading on it and is oversharpened. Removing a lot of depth and dynamics. And some of the textures look low detail and very out of place. In particular, the wooden bridge which crumbles when you step on it.

There are some parts which look very good. Hyrule field has an overall, very good impression. And the water-hole they dove into, looked really good.

That said, I also think Donkey Bonanza is one of the most visually unattractive games in the past decade......maybe not so unusual of a miss?

Already ordered a copy on amazon. Oot is the last Zelda I really enjoyed.
Launches November 5th, 2026, with a physical copy msrp of $60.
Physical is $70. Digital is $60. Amazon and Walmart have been known to sell the physical copy for the price of the digital on release tho. They might do it for this also.

Edit: Amazon and Walmart are selling the Physical for $60 atm. I preordered it at $70 the sec it came up and Amazon didn't ajust the price on my preorder. I canceled and reordered it for $60
A friend told me the new official release date for the movie is April 30 2027.
It is.

I saw the physical msrp being quoted as $60 from Nintendo life's article on the Nintendo direct. *shrug*

Wish Nintendo still did the $100 game vouchers for two games. 🙄

I rarely buy physical, but this is such a special game so I guess I will for this. Esp. if it's an actual game on the cart and not a game key cart.

Bought the physical edition on Amazon for $59.99

I never buy physical games - This one though? Worth it.

It looks like this will be the normal price on Amazon and not a promo/pre-order price? The issue I have is that I'm overseas military and it takes two weeks for me to receive anything from CONUS. But I have a local Post Exchange store that will stock the game and price match Amazon if their own price is higher. And I want to play this on day 1. So hoping the price doesn't change on Amazon and I'll price match at the PX.

Promo/preorder. They normally go back up to the normal price shorty after release.

Yeah, I went digital for some switch 1 games on steep sales, but this one and most switch 2 ones will probably be physical. Just pre-ordered the physical for this one.

Never made it more than maybe 1-2 hours in the original. I thought BOTW was the most overrated game I've ever played, but I am semi curious about finishing it. No way I'd go back and play an N64 game though. Might consider grabbing a cartridge copy, play and then sell it.

It's region free and pre-orders have already shown up for the physical in the UK, probably just a matter of time before they show up for Italian ones. If Amazon.it is anything like Amazon.de, you'll get it on the release date.

Just pre ordered on Amazon as well, looks epic.

Not sure how I feel about the voice acting though, feels seriously out of place in a Zelda game.

Well BotW and Tears are cheeks.

It's weird since OoT's graphics were clearly aiming for for a kind of realism of environments but with stylized characters, similar to Twilight Princess, while with this remake there's obviously modern materials and rendering being used which one could argue is a type of realism but the jarring thing is it just ends up looking like the kind of stylized environments seen in BotW and other modern Nintendo games.

I'm not sure we're ever going to get another Zelda that has that particular quasi-realistic style, since all their games have kind of concentrated on this other type of style. Like, there's a sense that it's a cousin of the Links Awakening 2019 remake in style, where everything is just that bit too slick, while OoT has some grit.
