Which CPU is the king for gaming? I am not looking for something top notch. A good mid range CPU that is good for gaming to be considered a king.

When it comes to budget, I don't know Maybe I can get more suggestion on the budget.Others have said the same - what budget?
The current king is the ~$450 9800X3D. If you have a microcenter nearby, you can get a $600 9800X3D + motherboard + 32GB 6000C30 RAM combo and that is a really good deal.

AMD did a great job. I am OK with either of these CPUs9800X3D or are you looking at intel only?!
I will be playing 3-12 year old games, 9600X is a good CPU. But 5070 will cost me more than a kidney. Can you suggest me a couple of generation old card that can play these games smoothly at 1440P?When talking about a budget king, it could be the current rebate on the site you buy it at the time you buy it.
Right now the 9600x is $205 on newegg, it has an argument to be more per $ than a $470 9800x3d, maybe someday the 265K (with all the post launch updates seem good per $) or 14600k could be at a good deal, specially if some motherboard are well priced at the moment.
It is quite competitive and moving, not sure there a clear budget gaming CPU king, specially with the previous generation (5700x3d, 7800x3d, 12600k/14600k, etc...) that can be quite good right now, messing things up if they are available on a deal.
And maybe it is age (and the purchasing power that come with...) or just because it has been a while than the best money can buy are not crazy expensive (5800x3d, 7800x3d and now 9800x3d) it is not something we tend to follow that much....
could get a 7800xtCan you suggest me a couple of generation old card that can play these games smoothly at 1440P?
What is your kidney worth? Or your budget? Something like a 3080ti would be alright. Possibly a 6800xt if you can find one. Anything newer than those with 12gb preferably 16GB of ram will do alright. Don’t look at the low dangling fruit with lots of vram like the 4060/4060ti, those suck and the ram doesn’t make up for it.I will be playing 3-12 year old games, 9600X is a good CPU. So, a "prince" not a "king"?Which CPU is the king for gaming? I am not looking for something top notch. A good mid range CPU that is good for gaming to be considered a king.

I'd try to get a B850 or B650e board if the price difference is small. That gets you PCI-e 5 support. I wouldn't pay a lot more for PCI-e 5 though. It doesn't make that much difference unless your card is low on vram. There are no really "future proof" mainboards right now. We'll probably only get one more generation on AM5. After that DDR6 will take over and AMD will replace the AM5 socket to support it. That said the last upgrade on AM5 should be a good one. They'll have 12 core CCDs.I am happy with the price of AMD Ryzen 9600X but GTX 5070 TI is bit on higher side for me. But as of now I am targeting 3-12 year old games starting with Crysis, warhead, Crysis 2 and 3, followed by bad company, Skyrim, Assassin Creed, GTA5 and more games that I have yet to explore.
It will take me an year or more till I am done with these games and I can upgrade CPU and GPU to support latest games. Is Gigabyte B650 future proof to upgrade CPU and GPU?
I want initial low cost which I can upgrade in 9 months or an year
Yeah that's what my plan is. Right now I have limited budget I cannot afford a 9800x3D, what I can afford is a 9600X with 9070XT or GTX 5070Ti if the price difference between these GPU isn't substantial.I'd try to get a B850 or B650e board if the price difference is small. 9600X is good for now, especially with a bit older games. Some newer stuff prefers 8 cores, but runs fine on 6. Old games just want 4 cores tops and clockspeed. So it's the way to go for cheap now and upgrade in a couple of years.
9600X + 9070XT will handle the latest games as well, so you won't have to wait if you have the itch to play one.
Except with CPU bound games, if you play any. I saw a big jump going from a 7800X3D to a 9800X3D with Star Citizen, and I play at 4K.9700x should be a good choice, 5% lower frame rates, $160 cheaper compare to 9800x3d.
750W Solely for the GPU? What about other electronic components? The CPU alone draws 120W TDPrecommended psu is 750w, that is enough, even with some overclocking.
the recommended is for the whole system.750W Solely for the GPU? What about other electronic components? The CPU alone draws 120W TDP
Thank you, I realized that the price gap between 9070XT and 5070Ti is narrowing. I have 3 months to gather money to buy this rig and the rumors ofthe recommended is for the whole system.
that gpu is 300w tdp, youre confusing it with psu wattage...
9070xt is measurably lower cost then a 5070ti where you are buying?Or to save more money I was thinking of buying 9070XT GPU and then upgrade to something higher in an year or more.
AMD Ryzen, 9070XT and Gygabyte B850, are good enough to play old games like Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Crysis 2 and 3 at 4K resolution?
A friend of mine who is into hardware business, said that the price difference is 15% right now, but he said that by the time I gather money to buy the system (which can take up to 3 months), the price will narrow down further because of super series. In theory his point looks right, but I will decide at that moment.9070xt is measurably lower cost then a 5070ti where you are buying?
In the U.S., there are a few 5070 TI at $750, now. And a few others around $780.9070xt is measurably lower cost then a 5070ti where you are buying?
I'll be surprised if we see the Super 50 series before Christmas. But.....that IS what the rumors say. With the 40 series, they let the inventory sell through over the end of year holidays. And then released the Super 40 series in January. They did similar with the 40 super series, before the 50 series released. 4070 TI Supers in particular, were VERY sold out.A friend of mine who is into hardware business, said that the price difference is 15% right now, but he said that by the time I gather money to buy the system (which can take up to 3 months), the price will narrow down further because of super series. He also said that if can wait that much, it won't be a bad idea to see how 5070 Super is, which is significantly cheaper than 9070 and 5070 Ti.
For me I am running out of patience. Either I wait for 3 months or take money from my old man.
