About god damn time they started working on more 4K ultrawide options, but Jesus the wait is going to be excruciating.
I like my Samsung 32" OLED but if I didn't get a 32, I would have got the 240Hz Corsair 34" UW (very mild curve)Did they edit this article? Your quote is nowhere in there and nothing mentioned about it now.
I'd love to wait for this, but my 2018 Alienware 34" UW (AW3418DW) just died and I need to replace it now. OLED is a requirement, and Display Port and curved is preferable, otherwise I was considering an 42" LG C4 or the older Asus 42" OLED with the same panel as the C2. But the current 45" LG OLED UW is on sale for BF (LG 45GS95QE - https://a.co/d/0SV8yzk). I'm also considering the Samsung Odyssey G9 SUW 32:9 on sale for about the same price (G93SC - https://a.co/d/6g4R9ju) for better productivity/WFH setup when I occasionally do. But I think I'd appreciate the extra vertical display on the LG for gaming immersion. Tough decisions, but I have to decide soon during the BF sales and I'm already annoyed at not having a functional desktop for now.
Get a cheap plug-and-play C4 over this
You can set a custom 21:9 (3840x1600) and 32:9 (3840x1080) resolution on a 42" screen and get the effective screen size of 40" for the former and 38" for the latter. That goes up to 45" and 43" respectively on a 48" 16:9 screen. As nice as the 42" oleds are, I have owned several, ultra wide or better yet super ultra wide is just much better for immersion when gaming!
Where LG starts, Samsung is sure to follow, a 5k2k 45" QD OLED would be bliss...after using AW3423 as a monitor and S95C as a TV, W OLEDs just don't have the oomph..
How do you not suffer from the lack of vertical space with super ultra wides? As nice as the 42" oleds are, I have owned several, ultra wide or better yet super ultra wide is just much better for immersion when gaming!
You don't with the LG. My current OLED has the same vertical as the Dell 30's of yesteryear. The dot pitch is not ideal with my current model however its not a deal breaker , especially when I fire up a game and enjoy OLEd goodness. I look forward to replacing it in another year or so with the latest itineration. How do you not suffer from the lack of vertical space with super ultra wides?
I think the 8Kx2K @ 57" is pretty fantastic. It's the equivalent of two 32" 16:9 displays. How do you not suffer from the lack of vertical space with super ultra wides?
Yup, 4K split screen co-op on the G95C is pretty impressive.I think the 8Kx2K @ 57" is pretty fantastic. It's the equivalent of two 32" 16:9 displays.
Do we have any insight into the coating used on the bendable 990A? This is probably my first choice right now and it is launching this year. I just hope to god they toned down the matte finish a bit.
Ok that is a relief. I'll check it out myself of course, but I think it probably is good to have at least some anti-reflective coating on a screen that size, especially when curved, in an office environment.
I mean, I would not want to work on a G5 TV for office work. I like the ultrawide for ergonomic reasons. I game on Sony A95L now, and I feel like if i am going to move back to a desk I want the ultrawide treatment.
I have considered doing a TV on the return side of my desk and an ultrawide on the main desk. I may need two stations anyway so I can have flight sim controls permanently mounted so I may end up with a TV in there anyway. I have serious first world problems this year!
This entire article is a load of horse crap.

did anyone order? yet I am thinking about it but might wait for best buy to get stock. I want to compare it to the odyssey neo g9 57''
Dude, I so wish that they had this when we got ours but the current one is so good , I do not have regrets . I have been able to enjoy spectacular OLED goodness and with a 4080S, the 3440x1440 is a piece of cake on ultra settings. I know the 4080s could handle the 5k screen but not at Ultra and so, a 5090 would also need to be in the cards and who knows when they will come down to earth if ever.I have the current LG 45 Ultragear with the 800 curve
Yes, when you see it in person at first you're like holy cow that's way too aggressive and round of a curve
But once you actually have the monitor at home and start using it for gaming that curve instantly disappears and is amazing.
I've had this monitor for one year now and I could never go back to a lesser curve
125 not sure about the 57 . I think it is the same or maybe 120https://www.techpowerup.com/334212/...5k2k-oled-gaming-monitor-the-lg-ultragear-gx9
$1999 MSRP.....what is the PPI compared to the 57" Odyssey Neo G95NC?

So only marginally better than my old X34 (109 ppi) and worse than my current G95NC. I half considered swapping to the 45GX990A but its not a no brainer, both models have pros/cons and the 45GX990A is going to be ridiculously expensive in aussie pesos.LG 45 5K2K is 125 ppi. G9 57 is 140 ppi.
Really not that crazy, I am currently running a custom 5k2k profile using a 9070XT.But this new version with the crazy 5k2k resolution will be a beast to run. Can't imagine even a 5090 will run games smoothly at Ultra settings at that insane res, this is 40% more resolution than 4k so whatever benchmarks you see for 4k games, deduct 40% from those for this 5k2k monitor to see what you'd get.
For non-gaming usage, the 8K2K 140ppi G95NC is clearly better. I think the 45GX950A would be nice as a gaming monitor. I would still go with the adjustable curve version (45GX990A) because I find 800R to be way too much curve for anything other than gaming, and I always end up doing some things other than gaming on all my computers. So only marginally better than my old X34 (109 ppi) and worse than my current G95NC.
