God of War Ragnarök (Confirmed)

I’m not a Steam fan at all… but that’s where most of my ‘library’ is… so naturally I tend to… wait a minute, this is a God of War thread, not a Steam thread. I can’t wait to play this.

Looks sick, I'm definitely playing Dead Rising first, but this is next on my list, I'll probably go back to back honestly.

God of War Ragnarök on PC supports all major graphics card manufacturer technologies, including:

Nvidia DLSS 3.7
AMD FSR 3.1
Intel XeSS 1.3
Frame generation for all technologies utilizing that feature

Pre-purchase God of War Ragnarök on PC to get access to the Kratos Risen Snow Armor and Atreus Risen Snow Tunic (cosmetic)...

this seems to be going under the radar...everyone's talking about Black Myth: Wukong, Star Wars Outlaws, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, AC: Shadows...but I guess all the PS PC ports don't do as well because most people already played it on console...even big games like Ghost of Tsushima and Forbidden West came and went on PC with barely any hype (outside of the first week of release)

This is always going to be a problem for Sony if they keep waiting 2 years to release exclusive single player games on PC. Hopefully they learn the correct lesson with the flop of Concord and decide to stop pushing day 1 releases of GaaS titles and instead do day 1 releases of single player titles, but we know they won't. They're still hoping that PC gamers will buy a PlayStation console and double dip instead.

I was hoping Spider-Man 2 would hit PC within a year but it doesn't look like that's happening

Completely.

Not going under my radar though. Like virtually every Sony title so far, I loved God of War.

That will always be an issue. Once half the hype is died down, "hype sales" will die down to. A lot of people buy games because of the hype, advertising, and because it is new. It is hard to build hype for a port even if good. I also think a lot of PC gamers are realizing that the Sony games are a bit over hyped by Playstation fans. They're good games, but they seem to rate 7-8s as 9-10s.

Doubt Sony will do under 2 years for ports, because they want to keep Playstation afloat. PC ports will still get them easy money even with reduced sales due to delay, but keeping the PS alive is more important to them.

the PC ports are also overpriced which is another huge factor...they price them pretty much the same as a brand new game...technically it is a brand new game on PC but it turns off a lot of people who wait for sales

They do it because people do DOUBLE DIP...

How is that Sony's Fault? These companies only listen to money.. They don't care about anything else.. Vote with your wallet or nothing will change..

I like the option to reduce puzzle hints...I wish you could disable it completely

God of War Ragnarök brings a host of new features to PC

Reduced puzzle hints option
-A new option in the Gameplay Settings tab, enabling this will reduce the frequency with which you hear puzzle hints from your companions

Cinematic Audio Description
-Enabling the Audio Description setting under the Audio Accessibility menu will play audio descriptions of visual events during cinematics. These descriptions will provide additional contextual information alongside the spoken dialogue to create a more detailed experience for players with low vision

All I can say again is people need to play these great games on whatever platform they can get them on.

I'm hoping at some point Sony makes these titles cross save compatible between platforms.

I would've gladly double dipped on HFW that I started on PS5, but having to restart the game was a turn off.

Maybe with the PSN requirement, we will get to that point.

Edit - oh, I'm reading that Sony did introduce this feature with Ghost of Tsushima on the steam community forums? Great news, if true!

This game is very well optimised, 4K DLAA Ultra = Always over 100fps but the GPU does run at 400 watts then and sits around 74 degrees whereas DLSS Quality draws over 100 watts less, sub 70 degree temps and quieter GPU fans. Frame Gen not needed.

No stutters, no glitches, some janky side movement of Kratos though like as if there's no dampening when tapping A and D to go left/right.

RTSS bench on a long run with DLAA 4K:

GoWR.exe benchmark completed, 39255 frames rendered in 307.750 s
Average framerate : 127.5 FPS
Minimum framerate : 103.3 FPS
Maximum framerate : 161.7 FPS
1% low framerate : 103.4 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 84.8 FPS

I recommend DLSS Quality at 4K output, Ultra settings. You gain an additional 50fps+ and the game looks exactly the same as DLAA.

Guess I will play this over Final Fantasy XVI. Seems like performance is good though of course people are complaining about the PSN account requirement, though that seems to be where most of the complaints are. First one had a decent port to, so I am glad this is better than TLOU's state day 1.

Bad reviews are from people not wanting to create a PSN account. Which asks for alot of personal info like your address.

Playing this right now. As far as the quality of the port is concerned: Home run.

4090/7800x3D/4K

Always over 100 fps at max settings with DLAA enabled - but it’s also just wicked smooth.

I have a huge grin right now.

It's still super impressive to me that with both the last game and this one that it runs so smoothly and there isn't even a shader compilation period that they make you wait for. Really goes to show you how much optimization is left on the table in many other games.

Only bug i'm noticing is that HDR doesn't stay set when you close the game. Runs flawlessly otherwise.

I am enjoying the game for what it is. But part of me wishes they would go back to the more arcadey fast action of the original trilogy. Just like the last one, it's a cross between the original and souls type games.

TechPowerUp: God of War Ragnarök: DLSS vs. FSR vs. XeSS Comparison Review

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8sA3sNg2AY

Dang they all look good, FSR 3.1 can look good but I'm not sure why it's so much worse in some games. I would imagine there's still a fair amount of ghosting once things speed up. I had to shut it off in Ghost of Tsushima, fortunately you can use XeSS and Framegen, looks phenomenal.
