In 2019 I asked which printer to get and got a fantastic recommendation for the Canon all in one color laser printer. Its been great the last 3 years.

With the updates to OSX, macOS, iOS (etc). Canon has not kept up with the driver set, so I can no longer print from my MBP. I can print from my iPad and iPhone, but not my computer. Its rather frustrating.

Is there a work around for the driver set? Yes, Ive looked at the official Canon page and downloaded the latest drivers, but they still are not up to current.

Otherwise the printer is fine. I have replaced toner as needed an no issues.

do the 11 drivers not work with 12? if not, you can only wait really.

I think I'm the one that suggested that Canon. I'm still using the MF642 on an M1 Pro 16" and M1 Air no problem. Both on Monterey. What isn't working for you? Pretty sure the printer does plain Jane AirPrint just fine as well. No driver needed.

The drivers on the Canon site seem plenty current as well. What's the problem?

I was going to tag you in this thread but I didn’t want it to seem like I was laying “blame.” That is not my intent at all.

I’ve downloaded the drivers and installed them twice. Maybe I need to get rid of all the drivers from my HP (prior to the Canon). However, I don’t know how to do it.

Even when it finds the printer, I go to the drop down menu and there are NO Canon printers at all. A bunch of HP printers.

If it’s working for you, then the error is something on my end, so I can get it to work.

For the love all that is good.

So I deleted everything, reset it again for good measure and then reinstalled the drivers.

Nothing.

Saw there was an update available for the OS and it was 4.3 gigs (ish). Ok, so living out in the country has some drawbacks and internet speed in the major one. With only 8 down, it took the entire morning to download. I am praying for Starlink this year.

Any rate, once I tried after the OS update, all good.

Thanks.

I don't think I even have the driver installed. The printer is AirPrint compatible. It will show up on the network and you can pick AirPrint as the driver.

Glad it's working though.

Me too. Thanks.

Thing was iPhone and iPad printed perfectly. Just not off my MBP.
