Hi i have an ryzen threadripper 2990wx-32 now with asus x399-e strix from what i hear its not the best combo for flight sim and my fps are lacking cause of it... can anyone recomend me a better amd setup for gaming thanks ? oh and i have an rtx2080ti card

There is no "in-place" upgrade for your current system (CPU-wise). All CPU upgrades to your system will also require a new motherboard because all current-gen CPUs use completely different sockets from your current CPU and motherboard.

i am sorry i ment motherboard also yes i know i got to changes both so im looking for a better upgrade to cpu and motherboard thanks!!1

x570 motherboard, 5800X cpu or above, and some DDR4-3600 cas 16 or better RAM. Lot's of reviews out there for the various motherboards and RAM combos.

Also, invest in a 1TB or above NVMe drive to run the sim. You won't regret the loading speeds.

That would be a downgrade from a 2990wx for anything multithreaded. Flight Simulator (at least currently) barely takes advantage of multiple cores so a processor with faster per-core performance would help you with that game specifically.
I would not replace an entire platform for a single game personally, but on the other hand you could sell your current motherboard and CPU and easily cover the cost of the swap.

No doubt it would be a multithread downgrade. But the per-core performance would improve his sim experience and that appears to be what he wants.
