Following speculation and confirmation last year, Universal 1440 Entertainment has just published a trailer for the upcoming DOOM movie. As was previously reported, Doom: Annihilation will be a direct-to-video adaptation of the video games, though just how close it will stay to the source remains to be seen.

Check out the trailer here.

Described as an "intense action-packed" all-new installment, the movie will be released in Fall 2019. Bloody Disgusting has the exclusive world trailer premiere for Annihilation, which carries shades of James Cameron's Aliens and looks like a damn good time. Will we see the return of the BFG? The sequel follows a group of space marines as they respond to a distress call from a base on a Martian moon, only to discover itâ's been overrun by demonic creatures who threaten to create Hell on Earth. Doom: Annihilation was written and directed by Tony Giglio (S.W.A.T.: Under Siege), and stars Amy Manson ("Atlantis"), Dominic Mafham (Ophelia), Luke Allen-Gale ("Dominion") and Nina Bergman (The Car: Road to Revenge). Lorenzo Di Bonaventura (Bumblebee) and John Wells ("Animal Kingdom") executive produced, with producers including Jeffery Beach (Jarhead 3: The Siege), Phillip Roth (Death Race: 4 Beyond Anarchy) and Ogden Gavanski (Cult of Chucky).

The first Doom movie was trash, but I kinda liked the Rock in it. ;) This looks just awful!
Yeah, it was pretty janky, but it was fun. I saw it at the premiere here with id Software and a bunch of the QuakeCon crew. It was a fun time....and the first person sequence was stellar for the time. Everyone in the theater erupted.

Ill be honest I have seen it a half dozen times. For sure not a masterpiece but if Im working on something or playing a casual game it is a great 2nd screen movie!

So this is the new doom movie poster?

I'll only see this if she is an empowered feminist and won't allow white males to interview her ;p. /sarcasm.

Looks cool though :)

Trailer looks pretty terrible. Video game movies are typically bad but as Armenius mentioned Silent Hill and Warcraft were pretty decent. I may be in the minority here, but I also enjoyed the Prince of Persia movie.

The sound effects made me giggle. The bullet ricochet at 0:19

But what happened to the Doom Slayer Guy being the badass - while being all silent? I sense feminism going on...

Zombies in space, why cant they just take some of the new lore from the new games and make a movie from that. I don't care if they have a what do you call it playing doom guy, anything but zombies in space.

They could be awesome if done well. Problem is, they never are.

And Doom isn't exactly a game well suited for it. Problem with games is a lot of them are unique due to gameplay which doesn't translate to film which is another hurdle. A game with a decent story and good gameplay is considered great, but when adapting it to film, it is just a movie with an average story at best.

Can't be as bad as the Far Cry, DOA, Double Dragon or Super Mario Bros. movies....or can it?

Lol - just had to see the list of people involved and what they worked on to see what the quality might be like - though if it ever comes for "free" on some streaming service I'll check it out. Sometimes "cheep" doesn't mean "not good" :) but... uhh... yeah.

I'm still a bit mad at the Max Payne movie.
Really? whole story board is already made? can't even do that right? lol :p

IDK why anyone is shocked at how bad this is, it was always going to be at least this bad, maybe even Starship Troopers 2 bad.

Starship Troopers 2 is one of the worst movies ever made. IIRC, they had LEDs in the barrel of the rifles that were supposed to look like lasers. God awful.

The real problem that nobody ever acknowledges is that most action games are so "inspired" by other mediums. So once you lose the interactive parts all you end up with is 90 minutes at best of a paragraph worth story and a brand name.

Oops well this post is just the adaptation of that last post.
