My Corsair AX1500i blew up on friday. I haven’t got the time to fuck about with it, so I am going to rebuild my X58 rig in the interim.

It’s maybe slow compared to todays cpu’s, but a 930 with 12gig of ram will easily run Roon and thats all it will be used for.

Anyway, question, I’m looking at coolers n shit for the 930. I do have an old corsair h70, an all in one water cooling get up, but fuck using that shit now.

What I want is something that will be quiet, passive if that is advisable/possible, if not passive, a quiet decent fan solution that doesn’t make too much of a noise

Does anyone know of a “Good” passive cooler or a good but not noisy fan solution ? as the stores where I usually buy shit from, hardly any of their coolers support 1336.

I do have the original unused stock i7 930 cooler and fan, I have never used it, is it any good and is it quiet ? Or does anyone have any good suggestions ? because I have 48 hours/til wednesday to get this shit up and running.

TL;DR
I Need a
Socket 1336 cooler and fan
Passive or active, but not noisy.

Might find more options if you look for coolers that fit Socket 1366.

I have, via websites, out of them all, only a handful say compatible with 1366, mostly it’s all 11xx that is turning up. Although, there is the few corsair hydro all in one things, but to be honest, they are shit. Good if your cpu is hovering between 25oC and 30 allday, but above that the things sound like a hoover.

Plus, I am also looking for peoples opinion regarding whether x product is noisy or loud.

I found this.

Noctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator + Fan CPU Cooler

Hopefully that will do.

Your title says 1336. There is no 1336.

Anyway, I am using a Spire Thermax Eclipse 2 on my 1366 socket. The fans that's came with it have long since croaked but the cooler itself is top notch. I have a Noctua and an Antec Tru-Quiet on it and it is still quiet with a healthy OC.

Typo, 1366. Thank you for pointing it out.

The main thing I need is for it to be quiet, as it will be in a spare bedroom and running 24/7, sometimes I sleep in there and also others when we are baby sitting. So it can’t be noisy.

I will see if my retailers have that and see whats up.
To be honest, I probably would of use my corsair h70, but it’s like 8 years old now and I would hazard a guess and say the insides are fuked, plus the copper face plate has a dent and a score right across it. How that happened I have no idea, but it def wasn’t me, as I remember freaking out and blamed it on her or the decorators we had in at that time,

I clinked your link and it kept bringing me to newegg.co.uk, i didnt even know they had a uk store, but alas, I managed to get to see the cooler you speak of, looks nice, the uk site doesn’t have it though.

I have that noctua one that I’m about to pull the trigger on, just waiting for corsairs reply so I can set up my rma.
If the replacement psu arrives quickly, hopefully I wont need to spend any more cash, cheers for the link though.

That Noctua should be fine. They make good shit. Ugly as fuck fans but they do the job well.

I would just go with a thermalright TRUE 140 power or TRUE 140 Direct, heck even the older vanilla TRUE 140... no expensive, extremely quiet, no RAM clearance Issues, no First PCI-E Slot issues, great cooling performance.

I have a recently retired thermalright 120 extreme that can be purchased very cheaply since i have zero storage capacity these days. I swear the old cooler works as good or better than my brand new modern cooler. obvously i was using it on a 1366 board.....the dam thigh would out cool most coolers using toothpaste if need be
