Is it really worth it to use a thermal compound like as5 on an rx580?

I doubt it. The stock thermal paste isn't that awful anymore unless it's applied badly at the factory which is a case by case basis. If you're going to replace the paste get something really high end like TG Kryonaut.

it will knock a few degrees off. a lot of the time the huge improvements people claim is from a shit heat sink mount.
