All I can say is thank goodness Gamestop is going out of business.

If you have not yet seen, the PS4 Pro 500 Million LE comes shipped in its own special packing material from Sony. It seems people who have ordered them through other retailers like Best Buy have gotten the package shipped to them intact. This packaging has the headset, console and controller all tightly packed to minimize damage during shipping.

However, Gamestop being Gamestop they have gone the extra mile in douchebaggery and unpacked every single one of them just to repack them in a generic box where the contents are free to bounce around during shipping. They even tossed in the corner protectors from the original packaging.

I have to tell you, I'd be irate to have this happen.

Discussion thread on Reddit:

With all the repacking of bundles they do so they can rip people off there's probably some policy that required them to do that.

This is really sad to see. I wonder if they did this for the bundles only or if they also did it for the people who just got the console? There was another person in the Reddit thread who posted a pic of their console in the generic shipping box but it wasn't clear if they got the bundle or just the console. I tried and failed to get one of these but if I did get one there was a strong chance I would have got one from GameStop since they had the bundles making it easier to get it from them. Thank goodness that didn't happen. This nonsense just makes the launch of this console even worse. Sony released so little of these that most people didn't have a snowballs chance in Hell of getting one and a lot of the people that did get one just put it on eBay. Heck, some scalpers even got multiple consoles somehow to sell at an inflated price. What a joke. Sony should do another run of these in a much larger quantity and not have them numbered. I could care less about having it numbered, I just wanted it for the bigger HDD and sweet translucent blue color.

what first world problems you have.

does your product work? arrive on time?

Not the point though. This is a limited, collector's product, and the box itself is considered part of that inherent collectibility. On top of that, the person who posted the pictures paid a boatload of money to acquire all of the items. To add insult to injury, they (Gamestop) just threw the included corners into the box, that were originally meant to protect not only the integrity of the box itself, but the contents inside. Pretty despicable from a consumer point of view. I wouldn't go as far as to blame Gamestop specifically, but the person(s) who put the shipment together. How much of a lazy piece of shit would you have to be to even attempt this?

Ultimately, right, the box is dinged to a minor degree, the product probably works, but it leaves a massively sour taste in your mouth if the goal is to receive a shipment in impeccable condition. This is far from that.

Also being charged on top of it all for the privlaged of their repackaging work.
