QNAP NAS uploading grinds to a halt

A lot of this is way over my head, but I'll try to describe my setup and any information I think you could need.

Before I went on a 3 week vacation, I had no problems uploading to the NAS. I can't remember at what speeds it was, but I have almost 500GB of files on it, so I can safely assume it was not the speed I'm getting now. I've literaly done nothing to neither my PC, my router, nor my NAS, other then firmware updates. When I start the upload, it starts from anywhere between 100-200MB/s. Goes like that for like 5 seconds, before it just halts. It seems like it's frozen, but the NAS is working quite fine. I can navigate no problem. Next time I see it it's 10-30MB/s going down. It continues to fall all the way down to KB/s and either I cancel the download or it just says "upload failed". As I've said, I've only updated the firmware since getting home. Everything is the same. I've tried reverting to a previous firmware version as well, with the same result. I've tried googling the problem, but there's not much information regarding this specific issue I have, and what there is seems quite advanced to me. Some information you might need:

I run a Windows 10 PC, and I transfer either just by dragging and dropping folders/files into the file station, or through the QNAP Pro software.

The NAS in question is a TS-541A. My router is a Zyxel VMG8924-B10A.

We're all on the same network and subnet. Ie, all on 192.168.1.x. My NAS is set up to grab an IP from my router, where I've given the NAS a static IP. I'm NOT port forwarding, and I'm not sure if I should be, or how to set it up either when it's only forwarding on my own network.

The NAS is connected with cable to my router, and my PC is connected with cable to my router as well. The cable to the NAS is the one that came with it (I didn't have an extra), and everything else is CAT 6 U/UTP cables.

Downloading a ~2GB files from the NAS server takes ~20 seconds.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but if you need to know anything else, let me know. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Of course, just as I post this, I get an answer from QNAP support, asking me how I upload. They asked if I upload by going to \\NAS_IP network drive. Thinking I didn't have much to lose, expecting the same result, I gave it a shot. Right now it's copying with ~100MB/s. That's fine with me if this is the way I need to do it, but I still don't understand why I suddenly can't upload like I did before.

I doubt you were getting close to 200MB/s, even on a 1 Gbps connection you will only see 90 - 100 MBps sustained throughput.

But to your issue, Run a separate cable direct from the PC to the NAS and try your transfer, its likely your router that is the bottleneck here.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I gatheredthat if it would actually upload, those speeds would steady out at something, not 200. I wasn't really interested in running any cables directly, I was just puzzled as to why it suddenly didn't work the way it's set up now, considering it did before my vacation. But I guess it doesn't matter too much, as one of the 3 ways I've tried works fine.

You cant troubleshoot and find the root cause if you are not willing to try different scenarios to identify what is causing your problem.
