Android email app recommendations?

Just picked up a OP3T, and love the phone, but the only email app on it is Gmail. Gmail works great for my personal account, but I really dislike it for my work emails, which usually have many replies in the same conversation. In Gmail, this results in the notification peak only showing the original email, and not the most recent message in the conversation... I also find the letter icons a useless waste of space.

I tried the MS Outlook app, but it's not synching and not telling me why...

Any other exchange email apps I should try?
 
For exchange? Your two best (and most secure) options are Mailwise and Nine. Nine is $10, but worth every damn penny. Outlook is quite good, you might have to talk to your IT dept to get your device authorised for sync. Maildroid Pro is another good one.

Another option could be android's default email app. it's not impressive, but it gets the job done. I'd personally use Outlook if you insist on a free client.

Avoid: Newton/Cloudmagic, Bluemail/Typeapp, Aquamail, any "cloud" based email clients. They all route your emails through their own servers to run analytics and track you, which is not only a HUGE invasion of privacy, but could potentially get you fired.

Aquamail used to be a great client, still is, but their parent company just bought the app, and they're shady as fuck. The original developer was awesome though.
 
Thanks guys, I got Outlook working. I'm guessing the sync problem was due to not uninstalling the account from Gmail first. I did that, then reinstalled Outlook, and it's working fine now. Looks decent, but why is everyone going to those stupid ID circles! Oh well, can't win them all.
 
I will say, if you have the chance, demo Nine. They give you 2 weeks for free, and you might be able to get work to reimburse you for the purchase. It's ridiculously nice.
 
Looks just like Gmail. What do you like about it (within the email functionality)?
 
The exchange configuration and options are just unmatched. Full HTML signatures (if you need that), syncing and notification options, etc.

Does your organization do any security enforcements?

I like Nine because any security requirement enforcements, I can configure Nine to have those only apply to the application and not the device.
Additionally, Nine has a built-in encryption functionality to encrypt all the application data. While I don't deal with HIPAA myself, the org does, and better safe than sorry.
 
I second Nine for Exchange. I use it on my Note 5, my Tab S2 and Tab S3 and the look and feel is amazing. I have tried other mail apps and this beats them all. Cost for the app is well worth it... if you can get reimbursed by your work then even better.

Forgot to include this, sorry, I needed more coffee. If this is your personal phone, it keeps your company from having admin rights over your ENTIRE device, and keeps it confined to the app itself. This is a HUGE deal for privacy, as your company could potentially see everything you do on that device.

At the very least, when set to application only, if they remote wipe it only wipes the Nine data.
I tested this on my old GS5.
But yeah, other things to. Though admittedly, I'm not familiar enough with ActiveSync to know what they would otherwise have access to if set to device level.

This is my personal phone. Work "requires" is to use AirWatch MDM, but the program is a disaster and too huge of a privacy invasion that I (along with several others including managers) refuse to install it. If they push it, I'll unenroll myself from the extra $25/mo they give us for email on our devices.

I might have to give Nine a look. Thanks!
