Gigabyte X99 UD5 SSD question

Hello all, I am soon to be obtaining a cheap X99 UD5 from a friend, I plan on pairing this with an E5 2630 V3 and 16gb of DDR4 3000MHz (i know it'll run at around 1800MHz or 2133MHz but it's temporary till I can afford a 5960X or so) now, my question regarding the SSD's is in reference to the M.2 connectors on the board, from what I've read and seen so far it has a pair of M.2 connectors, one being short and IIRC sata speed for the wifi module on the other boards that have it and the other being longer and full PCI-E speed, my question is whether or not it would be possible to say throw a 128/256GB drive into the sata speed port for a boot drive and a 1TB M.2 into the slot that can take the longer SSD's for a games drive, main reasoning behind this really is because I prefer my mid towers really so in order to watercool in the case I'm planning on using when using a 360mm rad up front won't work with 3.5'' drives so I would be looking at keeping it all on the board, this helps with the theme I'm aming for too as sata cables poking off wherever would mess with colours and looks/what have you, either way i'll have a 40 lane CPU at all times so lanes won't be an issue but I've seen basically nothing confirming that this is even possible, and assuming it is I'm not sure what size form factor wise I'd be looking for on the physically smaller boot SSD.

Looking at the manual, there is only ONE M.2 connector that can be used for STORAGE. The second is used for Wi-Fi, and you only can use one or the other being mapped to 1 PCIe from the PCH. Apparently, the M2_10G-as it is called in the manual-is configured for SATA only and will disable the port connectors 4 and 5 when used for storage also. So, you can use M.2 but you will lose two SATA ports and for an SSD that is AHCI, I would rather just keep the ports and not use M.2. Basically, I would get a PCIe to M.2 adapter for NVMe. The x8 or x16 are routed to the processer, using x8. Use that [NVMe] as system storage, and then the SATA SSD for games but have more storage ports that are equal in speed as the M.2 AHCI routed from PCH.

ahh damn, that is a shame, was hoping to keep everything on the board, will look into that though and look into other options also, many thanks
