Bungie officially announced Destiny 2 yesterday through a lame Twitter post, but they are trying to make up for that with this sort-of-neat teaser. We are once again reminded that robots are going to take all of our jobs, with that janitor bot sweeping along. I assume that actual game footage will be unveiled on March 30, which is when the real trailer will drop.

I love Destiny. I'm very excited. Also, that is Nathan Fillion, he plays one of the Exo Vanguard guys (The Hunter representative) who assign you quests on the main mission. He's by far the most entertaining charactor in Destiny and really helped turn around the story telling when the Taken King came out.

Who asked for this?

A lot of people? There are something like 25 million owners and there are more than 3 million playing it daily. I get that it isn't the greatest game in the world, but it's popular...and it has gotten a lot better.

As much of a disappointment D1 was in so many respects, it was still good enough to sink many hours into.

Lots of rumors D2 will come to PC and that's where I'll play it if it's the only way to get a 60fps Bungie shooter.

Would it be pointless to get into Destiny 1 at this point? The wife and I are looking for a game to play that isn't a grindfest MMO cleverly disguised as an RPG.

not sure if serious....

Destiny is fun but if grinding is something you cant stand, then doing the same instances over and over with different random groups hoping for loot or upgrade parts might be a turn off to you.

Still going to wait until the uber-all inclusive complete edition before giving bungie another red cent after how much they screwed me out of for Destiny 1. $100 for base deluxe that only included 2 dlc which barely ANY content in them. Then $40 for more Taken King with still not much content... and then asked for more! (I gave up at that point).

The current rumor is that it's coming this time.
I don't follow rumors anymore, been let down too many times. I'll wait to get excited for this game and any other game such as Red Dead Redemption 2 till they are officially releasing on PC.

If you can find it cheap, like under $30, sure. It's worth it to play it through completely once, the grinding is really only for end game raid content which I skip every expansion and then do the last expansions raid when everything is weak and easy. The game plays like Halo so if you were a fan you would probably love Destiny.

find the taken king edition for cheap and its worth it for sure, I really enjoyed leveling my characters up and playing through the main stories. Game has great shooter mechanics and feels very good to play, its only the endgame that becomes a grindfest (unless you enjoy PvP then its fine)

Destiny is a Juggernaut now. As much as Bungie fucks up...they still did it better than pretty much every other FPS RPG'ish game out there. Name me another current FPS game that had a 100k+ on their live stream just to hear about a small content update. yep...thought so.

People say "oh but sales" and I would rebutt that with "oh but cheaters"

It all depends on the netcode. Us that play Destiny have gotten pretty used to the lag shitfest that can happen. So if they make it a just a bit better than then make it just a bit worse for the anti cheats then we got ourselves a winner =P

As much as I hope it does come to PC, I think I would still buy for PS4. Can't wait for this. I had a lot of fun playing even if it was a grind fest from time to time.

Hoping for a single player campaign. There was sort of something resembling one in TTK but too short.

Don't hold your breath for a PC release. I've read the rumors but I don't believe them. But hey if it actually happens it will be a pleasant surprise.

Well Destiny is neither an MMO or an RPG, so I think you're good?

There has never been a better time to get into it. Mainly because it's actually a complete game now. It launched 1/2 complete and they've been adding lots of (really good) content to it over the last 3 years. At this point it's a pretty great game. I wouldn't suggest trying to get to light level 400 or anything like that, but it's well worth playing through all of the normal content and dabbling with the MP stuff.
You can probably get a bundle of all of the content for what the game cost back when it launched. It has hundreds upon hundreds of hours of stuff to do if you want.

As far as the genre goes, it's a little bit Halo and a little bit Diablo. It's more shooter than RPG, but there are some very clear leveling and loot elements.

If you aren't thing to min/max...Destiny right now is a GREAT game. Just play through in the order of expansions and the game will make a bit more sense.

The artwork is great (for how old the game is) and the gunplay is fanastic.

You can always play the missions by yourself or with up to 3 people. For a couples game..it is fantastic since you resurrect either other.

The game also makes you "feel" powerful. All three class are pretty well rounded and can be played "defensively" or "offensively".

The PVP is pretty good too. You should average a 0.25 KD even if you suck.

The RAID's are well done but I would wait until you have command over your class.

the Reddit community is FANTASTIC. It is about a low toxicity as you can get consider how much of bitchfest cesspool most other games are.

If you really like lore..the grimore's of destiny are depth beyond depth. The game itself is pretty much a one page overview while the grimores is a multi novel of knowledge and depth.

So what is the point of destiny 2 instead of more destiny expansions? I was thinking about getting back into it, played through the first one, but hearing that progress won't be transferred is a real bummer.

I wonder how long bungie will be stuck making destiny now, they stopped doing halo only to become activision's replacement for cod as a DLC money printing machine.

I started playing destiny about 8 months ago and love the game. I heard it was rough in the start but where its at now... Its a loot shooter crack addiction. I will be a day 1 purchaser for destiny 2 on my ps4 pro or pc

The first game was on the last-gen consoles in addition to the PS4 and Xbox One. With this one they're building it from the ground up only for the PS4/X1 and possibly the PC, so it should be a lot more advanced.
I'm sure they could keep cranking out expansions, but it's probably time to put that engine out to pasture and move on.

I don't think they will mind one bit. Most gamers seem to very toxic towards developers while the Destiny players seems to be a lot more supportive and tolerant. When you feel people appreciate your work and are willing to deal with your mistakes....you tend to like doing more work.

Ahh. So it just more of an engine thing then. Makes sense.

No, at this point just wait on Destiny 2 and watch let's plays on youtube to get caught up in the story. I enjoyed the hell out of Destiny until TTK and at that point the nickle and diming became too much for me. I've kept up with the story via YT though and am looking forward to Destiny 2. Though being fair I do expect at some point for Bungie to overestimate the value of an expansion and make me quit all over again. No worries though, if I get the value I got out of the first up up through Prison of Elders. I'll be pretty darn happy.

I remember reading how they chopped so much out of the story. Then how they had dlc on disc, which fed even more into the feeling like they were chopping more of the story out (and making some of it as a pay-only dlc).
Seemed like they were just trying to milk as much $$$ out of people as they could.

Everyone wants PC but that player base will be the first to tank. And if it's P2P like Destiny 1 no thank you on PC. The game is VERY populated on both Xbox One and PS4 especially now with Age of Triumph live.
