Sennheiser headphones

If the seller was not actually Sennheiser, I would suspect counterfeits.

Thanks OP, my ATH-M50x are a bit worse for wear. Been considering replacing them with the same or a set of comparable Senns.

what do you mean? Amazon is the seller (not a 3rd party). Sennheiser is just the MFG. Regardless, Amazon has fairly regular fire sales on Sennheiser headphones. I got HD598 (or was it 6xx) for a hundred bucks last year. Good cans, especially for the price.

Lots of counterfeit products out there. Sometimes they make their way onto Amazon through 3rd party sellers. Amazon is really good about shutting them down and kicking them off their website though.

I read otherwise. Amazon makes money either way.

Good price.

Why? These are not very expensive cans to begin with regularly from 60-80 bucks with an average of 67.

Amazon is raking in big profits allowing counterfeiters in.

Amazon's counterfeit problem is getting worse and sellers are enraged

Sales from Chinese-based sellers more than doubled in 2015 on Amazon's marketplaces, while the company's total revenue increased 20 percent. And recently, Amazon even registered with the Federal Maritime Commission to provide ocean freight, simplifying the process for Chinese companies to ship goods directly to Amazon fulfillment centers, cutting out costs and inefficiencies.

When America sent it's manufacturing jobs overseas along with all the technology how to create the manufacturing plants, schematics for the devices, how to source the materials, etc; they knew this was going to happen. They didn't care and personally as long as there is a system for take down notices; it's fine by me. It's what the people wanted and voted for when they elected individuals to power in the 1980's.

Trying to regulate what other countries can manufacture is like leading a thirsty, dying man to the Mississippi River to save his life. Then one day you tell him that he can't drink from the river again. You know that as soon as you let the cat out the bag and showed him a better way to live, that he's going to return to the river at different areas over and over to drink. It's like trying to play an infinite game of Whack A Mole in real life as the Mississippi River is 2,300 miles long. Amazon is doing the best thing by bringing the products over here themselves. At least the disputes can be tracked, regulated, and handled by a US based company. Right now I just order stuff from China and it shows up in the mail at my door.

You missed the part about Amazon systematically enabling chinese counterfeiters a platform with which to steal from the original inventors and businesses? They've not only brought them into the fold, they've even procured ocean freight to speed and secure the process. If ya google it some more, Amazon even has vaguely worded policies for counterfeit products they lump into white label with generic terms. It's in their sellers guide, how to pass off counterfeit products w/o alarming buyers. lol, the last part is more or less a paraphrase.

This comment sums up the problem.

"I am a buyer and a seller on Amazon. I have been selling for many years on Amazon. We sell "officially licensed" merchandise. The China sellers are ripping off all of our listings and undercutting us. They don't even know what they are selling. I have test ordered some of these products and they are total garbage. The China sellers are attaching to listings that my staff has taken thousands of hours to create. If Amazon drives us out of business then China will not be able to create any listings...they don't even understand what they are selling. China sellers are great at copying good sellers listings and that's where it ends. I no longer trust Amazon and feel completely betrayed. Opening an Amazon selling account in China must be as easy as getting a library card. Amazon has clearly made a firm decision that getting into China is more important than not selling their American customers fake merchandise."

I bought few carbon frames form China years ago. Yes, they still do work but the quality/finish isn't there. I bought it to check it out but it's always easy to buy last year's model for half the price made by the American in Taiwan. Taiwanese products are excellent quality. It's a shame everything has to be made in China.

It is awesome that Amazon is bringing Chinese products to America directly because if there is a dispute, then Amazon can handle it. Right now the way that the system works is that anyone can just buy the stuff from many sources and get it anonymously shipped in a brown envelope. I think that Amazon bringing it in and at least being able to handle the disputes is better than regular people ordering the counterfeits directly from China. Remember counterfeit goods have been sold in America for a very long time. Hell my favorite Nirvana CD was a counterfeit I found out last year. I bought it from a legit record store back when the band first blew up.

If you read the article, the legal sellers say that they don't have the time to fill out the dispute forms so they are just going to let it go. Well if they want to let it go then that means that they don't care. Neither should Amazon at that point. If they fill out the form then they should be assisted and it seems that they are. It's just that the Chinese are more vigilant at creating a new account.

I think you believe that counterfeit goods coming straight from China is a new thing. It isn't. We laughed at fake Chinese Jordan ripoffs when I was in middle school in 1983. They were made of pleather or plastic. The threat of counterfeit goods was outweighed by the money that could be saved by moving manufacturing overseas. It was considered to be "The cost of doing business."

With that said we have completely derailed this thread. I'm staying quiet as the headphones were a helluva deal and this discussion takes away from it.

It looks like Amazon is out there to fuk legit sellers. If I wanted to say what I want say I would be deemed very prejudice.

"We are a manufacturer and sell on Amazon, and the problem for us is the "commingled inventory." We've had counterfeiters make cheap copies of our patented products, steal our UPC and put it on their fake product, and then ship it to Amazon FBA. Because of Amazon's commingling of inventory, these fake products get dumped into the same bin as our genuine products because the counterfeiters put our UPC on their fake product. When a customer orders from us, the manufacturer, on Amazon, Amazon just grabs a product from the commingled bin, which could be a fake product.

So even though I am the manufacturer and sent Amazon FBA genuine products, customers ordering from me are sent fake products by Amazon because of commingled inventory. It's awful! Customers end up leaving negative reviews for my product because they received a cheap knock-off instead of my genuine product, and I've had to spend hours on the phone with Amazon trying to fix this. They send me form emails that don't even address the issue, and it's been very difficult trying to get Amazon to inspect the inventory at the FBA warehouses to remove the fake products with the stolen UPC (which are easy to spot because the box doesn't even look like mine and is a different color).

It's so frustrating as a small manufacturer of a patented product. There are new Chinese copiers every day, and if Amazon removes them, they come right back the next day with a new name. We've tried to serve court papers to these counterfeiting companies for violating our patents, and we can't even figure out who they are because Amazon doesn't make them register a real name. American companies are required to register with their state's Secretary of State and file a "doing business as" if they use a different name just for this reason, but foreign sellers on Amazon skip all those rules and are impossible to find or figure out who they are."

@ cagey I won't even comment on what you posted.

Ya know most products have a authenticity something or other on or in the box you can check at the manufacturer's website....
