[H] AMD RX 480 CrossFire Testing Underway

Ahmm how about pro AMD and Pro Nvidia forum? Cup half empty or half full in other words?;)

I think here it is more in getting to the bottom of things or finding truths. Sometimes it takes a torturous path finding it.

You could the defend them all you want but post like this are hurting more H than AMD. Good luck guys

Kyle and Brent, Miss Cleo predicted this shit back in the 90s.

Lol you guys might actually incinerate!

Kyle and Brent sent word that they are both elbows deep testing AMD's RX 480 CrossFire this afternoon through the holiday weekend.
Kyle and Brent, you might want to wait for the bios fix to the power issue before investing a lot of time in benchmarking, so that your numbers reflect what cards will be doing once AMD fixes them. Have a nice weekend instead.

BIOS can't fix pcb design. Lol

From the things I've read, the gpu itself draws from the 6pin, and the reat of the board draws from the slot. Also from what I've read, this was part of pcb design, and not the software control

i'm really sorry what this forum has become, a full on anti AMD crusade, really sad, things used to be fair here... :/
We all aren't anti -AMD. There are some folks here that still know what scruples are. The whole world has filled with band-wagon wanna-be's. They think they always make the right choices and anyone who chooses otherwise is a tool. It's OK though, because the higher you go the further you fall. They are like cult followers. You can thank stupid fucking churches and companies like Apple that foster the cult like mentality. Oh and the US Government for propaganda for making its population feel like they are better than everyone else, when in reality this country was built on slavery and genocide. /rant off

Pro AMD at [H]...... Get banned for everything. Anti AMD blatantly trolling in AMD article..... Totally ok.

The 1080-ish performance for almost half the cost makes it very interesting at first, but then I always remember how any type of SLI/crossfire setup sucks for driver support.

TL;DR: Jay recommends getting a single higher performance card that costs less than two RX 480s, by which he means, the GTX 1070.

I always go with the single card ;)

This is false. The chip itself AMD states is rated at 110W (I have seen reports/screenshots showing it exceeds this). PCPer is showing pretty much an equal power load from the PCIe and 6 pin.

I recommend watching -

Looking forward to the results here as well!

I am interested in seeing what the AIB rx 480 cards have to offer for the price and of course if they solve any power issues. Also hopefully all the review sites that tested per rail power draw to bring these findings to light continue to do so on ALL new GPUs. Keep consumers informed etc.

Everything is working fine so far, I did a long gaming test over a lengthy amount of time to see how hot they get, and power draw, everything is still alive, no fires yet.

As for the power fix coming, there is no indication that it will affect performance yet, I will find out directly from AMD.

I benched RX 480 Crossfire for 4 hours last night and a couple hours this morning. Guess what ... My motherboard is still in one piece ( MSI Godlike X99 ) .... Miracles do happen!!!

This is my best run so far. GPU overclocked to 5.5% and Memory at 2200.

I scored 20 535 in Fire Strike
Nice. Maybe they like those extra cores. I definitely want to see more crossfire results with both regular quad core cpu's and the 8 core guys like this and the FX series.

yup, of course, i'm a budget gamer let's use our 550$ motherboard and 1000$ CPU with overpowered PCI-E slot, that are reinforced both external and internally, and then let's use a pair of budget 240$ card, because after all im a typical budget gamer who this card is aimed at.. =) then let's go to a forum and say nothing happened after 4 hours of test.

Elmy your word worth nothing in this forum as everyone know you are paid by AMD. LoL.

edit: misplaced words xd

A few post up, Brent said he tested it with no issues, why don't you call him out as well??

I didn't know. Link?

Because I trust Brent.. he is not paid by AMD to say good things on forums. but answering the fact that brent doesn't have issues doesn't mean issues doesn't exist out there. just check several of the few threads about the RX 480 powergate no need to derail this thread re-posting things.

You are new here.. nothing strange. :)

So, no link. hehe..well alrighty then.

Oh come on, Elmy does fun stuff, and yes, it would be outrageous if an actual quality board with actual quality PSU would die from rx480s.

The concern would not even lie in the same galaxy.

ill be honest on the whole power draw and then people testing on what I would consider upper mid - high tier gear..... does nothing for me and my ~50 asrock h81m-itx (though I'm not really concerned about that, I'm more concerned about the fact that its doing all that AND I would be running it through a pci-e riser ribbon (case rotates videocard upright to keep it narrow)

Why dont you say the same thing about the "you know who's" that bash anything and everything AMD 24/7....If your gonna call Elmy out call those out who freely admitted working for Nvidia today! Also i believe Elmy is "sponsored" but not employed by AMD. Slight difference i think.

You know they said they worked for nVidia just to fuck with you, right? They don't work for nVidia any more than I do.

Your sarcasm meter definitely needs a re-adjustment.

i call it like i see it. Know one puts that much effort into doing "that" day after day on every web site for free.....but hey we can disagree

Tell me, almost 3 days of non stop mining with 4 of those bad boys and still mining with out a single issue. I might add 2 cards more to make it more interesting, since this is a big issue around here. LOL

It looks to be an issue only if you have a cheap or low end motherboard with PCI-e 1 or 2.

That a good watch. They dont seem concerned much. They also say other cards in the past have gone over.
Im sure my power hog has at 1100

I have three low end amd boards, ill let you guys know if i have any failures. I have two RX 480s on their way but tracking says end of next week. Im running 2x gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H and an older biostar fm2 something rather.

If the Biostar holds up, you're golden

It will be interesting to see how you get on. Make sure you update us.

WOW, that last sentence is pretty damning!

Yes, pretty damning as far as "professional jounalism" here is concerned. [H] has fallen deep. I'm here almost daily since 2004 and... well, I'm disappointed.

Well, that shouldn't that statement fall onto all Journalism? Back in the day, Journalists were investigative reporters and uncovered so much dirt and corruption. Now they are mainly mouthpieces for that dirt and corruption.

By then the driver fix should be out ..
