EIZO is coming with Freesync

not much information there:
- new Eizo 27 inch gaming display with AMD's Freesync is in development
- at this particular event a prototype was first shown to the public
- they plan to show the display again later at various game-oriented expos
 
Wasn't Eizo's last high end gaming monitor, the FG2421, plagued with really really bad QC issues? Well then again I can't say anything since I own an XB270HU which has it's own share of QC problems. But if they make it 1440p, 144Hz, use a VA panel with 5000:1 contrast, and fix up their quality problems then I just might be willing to ditch IPS for it.

Yes, rumor had it they were using panels in FG2421 that didn't pass QC for their high end monitors.

Not just high end but stuff meant for satellite work and stuff, not really sold on consumer markets. And it shows, the screen has all the makings of perfect screen on paper, but is plagued by annoying little things. Cross hatching, glowing edges and such are ridiculously common in that monitor.

It was, but as your Acer experience further demonstrates, wasn't [insert manufacturer's name here] last high end gaming monitor plagued with really bad QC issues? ;)

It really sucks that every expensive gaming monitor (FG2421, PG278Q, XB270HU) all have QC problems. For the price tag of these things I'd figure we should all be getting flawless panels. I hope Eizo's new monitor won't be a repeat of the FG2421.
 
if it's VA and has Turbo 240 (288?) mode with no input lag i'll be all over it, but knowing eizo it'll probably be $1,000+.

IPS? Thats dissapointing. There are a lot of good IPS panels on the market already and for those whos eyes are more pleased by stable colors than deep contrast its good news. But don't leave us VA panel fans into the dark. Yes FG2421 was a QC disaster but on paper the screen had all the makings of perfect screen before OLED finally becomes mainstream. They should have concentrated on that tech and make it more affordable without (supposedly) relying on factory seconds.
