Steam Summer Sale leaked? 2015 edition.

Haven't bought anything from the steam summer sales in a few years.. I don't know why. May be purchase fatigue (too many games that I'll never get to play??) It's entirely my fault though.

these sales are great but I also find myself being much more selective recently because of my huge backlog...prices will only get cheaper so why buy something to have it sit in my Library unless I know I'm going to play it relatively soon

plus with all the Nvidia graphics card gaming bundles I usually get all my favorite games at half price or less on Day 1 from people selling their codes online which has taken the place of my Steam Sale purchases

The last couple of sales have sucked and ever since the steam store interface update, I have found it harder and harder to find gems since 90% of the sales have been on early access crap.

Amazon and GMG have had better sales by far the last several years.

Didn't the summer sale used to take place the week of July 4th? Seems like they keep having it earlier and earlier as the years pass by.

if the dates are correct (June 11th-22nd) then most of it technically won't even take place during the summer...June 21st is the first official day of Summer

Wait, are you saying that this year's Steam sale will occur in the same time frame as it did last year? WOW.

I seem to remember it always being around July 4th as well for some reason. Maybe it used to be that way but the last couple years have been in the middle of June.

I've been over Steam sales for a while now.. How much useless backlog can you spontaneously purchase before you realize you're only buying crap because it's cheap.. Not because you have any real intent on completing it, or thinking it'll actually be good.

Steam sales were a big deal at first because they were the first major digital PC sales we had. Nowadays, every digital platform have sales at similar prices. Also, we've picked clean all the major titles from the past several years. I still get excited at the summer and winter sales though.

I've never bought a game just because it was cheap...waiting for games you want to play to go on sale is the whole point of Steam sales

I generally only pre-order stuff if there is a discount (such as TW3) or there are pre-order bonuses (I am a huge sucker for this). The 20% off the initial pre-purchase title is probably not going to be matched for at least half a year (winter sale probably) and I am playing it now.

The only game I would want sometime is GTA V, but since I have a huge backlog of games that by the time I finished TW3, I most likely would have passed through a few sales on the game, hence the wait. Wasn't interested in the pre-order ingame cash, as I don't play multiplayer.

I hardly bought anything in the last sale, so probably not going to buy any in this one, except maybe GTA V if it gets a very unlikely 50% off.

I'm feeling optimistic. A lot of chances to get great gifts as well as discover old gems.

I wish Steam would be more aggressive with their newer game sale prices...they always follow the same 25%, 50%, 75% pattern so you won't get really amazing prices for new games for awhile...Amazon and other retailers usually offer better deals then Steam sooner

There are multiple ways of defining the seasons, and I think most people on the street would put June in summer, especially since weather (and hence the meteorological season) is commonly associated with the seasons, more so than astronomy.

Steam/Valve doesn't decide on the price/discount, the devs/publishers do. I really don't know why people insist on blaming Valve for bad sale discounts when it's not in their hands.

Common misconception. Steam is just a marketplace, the original "appstore". Valve does provide guidance and suggestions to publishers that are using their marketplace, and bases their guidance on a raft of metrics and financial data not otherwise available to the public, but doesn't dictate or set pricing.

Though you do have to wonder how they incentivize publishers to join a sale - I mean just because Valve decides to have one doesn't mean publishers have to care. Maybe Valve reduces its commission temporarily? Who knows.

All the games I want on my wishlist not published or really recent yet so I dobut they will go on sale. The thing is I have not even put a dent into my last Steam Sale games I picked up last DEC.. except for Divinity Original Sin.

Statistically games on sale have MUCH higher sales than when they're at full price. A lot of people spend good money during Steam sales.

I might occasionally hit one or two indie games I'd been curious about but for the most part I've not spent more than a few dollars in the past few years. When you look at the sales and deals amazon and gmg has even the best steam sale prices are luke warm.

The best way to treat the Steam Sale is wait till the last day or two when they list all of the pervious stuff for sale anyway. Then you miss out on the contest though whatever it may be this year I was on the Blue Team last year didn't win a thing. I got a level 10 Winter Deal Card during the winter deal. I spent way too much time on the last two sales just waiting for the next day to pass then finding out the stuff the day after wasn't even worth the wait.

My hit list in no particular order,

Dying Light
Borderlands Pre Sequel
GTA 5
Dark Souls 2
Ori and the Blind Forest
AC: Black Flag
Far Cry 4

I'm not really itching to play any of them except Dying Light. I'll get them if they go on deep discount. I still have Witcher 3 to finish then Arkham Knight is coming out soon.

So is the sale definitely starting today? 1PM EST?

I'll keep an eye on my wish-list to see if any of those get discounts. Most of the ones on mine are still in the $50-60 range, GTA5, FC4, Dead Rising 3, and several others, but I won't be interested unless they hit 75+% off. Kindof doubt I'll be buying anything this time, but we'll see.

I still have like 100 hours of TW3, and a huge backlog to play through still. Not like I need any more games any time soon.

It starts at 12:00 Central or 1:00 Eastern

It's going to Traffic for the sale will shut down the Store Page I suspect like it always does unless they improved the servers so don't except anything till like a hour after the sale maybe =)

I hope Wolfenstein New Order and FarCry 4 goes on daily sale. Other than that, I'll be looking out for some older/smaller games such as the YS series.

What time does this think usually start???

Looks like it should be 1pm et. 12mins!

GMG killed them on X-Com. They were doing an insane 75-80 percent off across the boards last week.

Check in like 20-30 minutes. You can expect the site to grind to a complete halt while they switch it over amid the massive surge of traffic.

It's live now =) Monster Summer Sale =)

On snap. They've gotten a lot better at this apparently. :D
I'll definitely go look at my wishlist to see what's selling in a few.

Edit - nope, the cake is a lie. That or zero of the titles on my wishlist are discounted 1st day of sale.

before it crashed i did see GTA V for $30! Think i have to jump on that.

EDIT: gone for some reason?

Yeah from what I seen it was shit list of games... Metro Last light is the only game that caught my attention but not sure if it's the right price cause they sometimes change them 15 minutes into it opens. I didn't know Grand Theft Auto 5 was the latest one waiting on Red Dead Redemption 2.

Hah! Yeah, some funny stuff showing while they switch it over. My wish-list now shows GTA5 for 30% off an original price of of $84.97 = $59.89. So... that's $0.10 cheaper than it was a few minutes ago. No thanks :p
