Fallout 4 on console

I have all the fallouts for PC, but I am thinking a PS4 version of this.

As I said before...I spend too much time on a PC at work at a desk, rather be on the couch with a big screen and a PS4 Controller.

Console version for a Bethesda game though? I never understood the point when you miss out on all the mods. Mods are the only reason I'm still playing Fallout NV and Skyrim.

After all of the stuttering I got in Fallout 3 and New Vegas, the consoles were my only option. While certainly lesser in every way, they're still great games.

I got FO3 and NV on the 360 first. Then played them again with mods on the PC. I'll get this on the XB1 first. When it comes to PC games I fuck with it too much in the beginning trying to see the most optimal settings and mods. This way when I get it on the console the first time I'm forced to play it because I can't change anything.

I am so torn on this. Mods make the PC version really, really appealing. Stability on the console however is also really really appealing.

better game play and having to save every 30 seconds, or not having to save every fucking step, but giving up the "enhancements" the mod community brings to these games?

i think i am going to wait and see which is greater, the need for mods or the need for stability

Regardless of platform, it's a Bethesda game, it's going to ship with a ton of bugs.

Well it definitely won't be an Ubisoft AC Unity release, that's for sure. :p
And furthermore on that subject, I think that release was a definite wake up call to AAA Devs/Publishers....
Bethesda has a good rep. I don't see them releasing a hilariously unplayable game.
If anything, they may learn a thing or two from CDPR with Witcher 3. Constant and quick updates.

Looking forward to Fallout 4.

I hope it's a good one.

Bethesda's bugs usually of a different nature. Things like broken quests, getting stuck in an object, or randomly falling through a wall. Unity was more of a game that was released totally unfinished.
If Bethesda were to totally patch out all possible bugs in their games we'd probably still be playing Oblivion and waiting for Fallout 3. I think that's just the nature of giant open-world games.

Well how long has Fallout 4 been in development?

Four or more years?

Ubisoft is releasing a new AC like every year it seems.

Time wise, I'd say UBISOFT has less time to fix bugs and such, HOWEVER, that doesn't make an excuse to release such an unfinished project either.

I'm wondering when a closed beta release would be available?

If I didn't have both next gen systems I'd build a pc for this game. Biggest issue I'm having is deciding what system to get it on.

I'm thinking Ps4 would be the better looking and running game frame rate wise but I have no clue if it will have some kind of online gameplay.

If it has online I'd get it on Xbox one for sure

That is not always the case. Granted the Xbox sometimes its 900p or it dynamically scales between 900p and 1080p based on whats going on. The xbox has maintained a better a consistent frame rate over the PS4 many titles. That was the case with the Witcher 3, now I don't know those performance issues have been patched on the PS4.

I'm sure when the game comes out Digital Foundry will have a frame rate comparison. But that could be after the game launches, some games they've had frame rate tests prior to release.

I can't remember the last time I was this excited for a game. I accidentally stumbled upon fallout 3 and fell in love with it. I probably put around 400 hours into it on pc, then I started new Vegas and did the same thing again.

I'm just happy the game is finally coming out and I have both systems so I can pick the better of the two

I HIGHLY doubt it'll be online in any capacity. If it was, it'd be co-op and i'd shit myself if it had co-op. In that case i'd definitely get it for XBOne too.

PS4 because it's all I have this gen ATM. I also have no intentions on building another gaming PC for awhile. I don't have the time to dedicate to FO4 so console makes the most sense to me.

I paid for my pre orders today.
Did fallout 4 on Ps4, black ops 3 on xbone

If anything noticeable comes up before release I'll change the pre order. Just wanted to pay them in full so it's done and over with.

There is a guy on YouTube called mattyplays I believe and all his videos are fallout related. I go to his channel to check for news

I am definitely gonna get this for PS4. Would rather sit down on the recliner, prop my feet up and use a gamepad at this point.

If you've got a PC capable of running it you might think about the steam in-home streaming stuff. That way you can get that experience and still be able to run mods, something the console versions probably won't be able to do.

Agreed here. I played FO3 on the Xbox 360 then played the PC version a year or two after. Totally different experience with all of the mods and whatnot. Plus, Bethesda, at least with Skyrim, had decent controller support on the PC.

With that said, barring finding the time (and money!) to build a game worthy HTPC for myself, I'll be playing this bad boy on PS4.

I can't wait to see this game in action. It's been so long since fallout 3 and new vegas. Bethesda made good dlc for the other fallout games and I'm sure this one will be no different.

I'm interested in seeing the difference between ps4 and xbox one with this title. With the extra power the ps4 has will the world load faster with better detail

The differences will minor if there is any difference at all. If anything if there was any difference in loading chances are the XB1 would probably a few seconds faster because its CPU is clocked slightly higher then the PS4. If there is a difference it will probably be resolution. I can see the PS4 doing 1080p and the XB1 probably doing the dynamic resolution like in the witcher 3.

I can't agree with you on this. On battlefield 4 I can clearly see a differece between xbone and ps4. We will see what happens when it gets reviewed, it would be nice if there was no difference but I doubt it

Battlefield 4 was a launch title. Its going on the 2nd year, and the gap between the consoles have shrunk since then. You don't have to agree with me, Digital Foundry has the numbers, you can see the frame-rate tests they do with a side by side comparison.

Dynamic resolution was laughable in The Witcher 3:

"Meanwhile, the promised 'dynamic resolution' solution on Xbox One doesn't appear to hit the 1080p target in any of our samples. Instead, for the most part the game renders at 1600x900, with only video cut-scenes providing true 1080p output for any noticeable length of time."

Digital Foundry The Witcher 3 Face Off

From the short video Fallout 4 video we've seen so far, I think both consoles will be 1080p/30. Otherwise I expect the recurring Xbox One 900p, PS4 1080p to be the only difference.

Fallout 4 on Xbox one comes with a code to download fallout 3 on Xbox one. I have no clue if it is remastered or not but I'm guessing it's gonna be the same game we played on the 360.

Plus Bethesda is also letting us install mods on the Xbox one version.

The E3 video was amazing. Being able to to make your own little town is sweet, the weapon and armor customization is crazy too.

Now I'm really pumped and I'm getting it on Xbox one for sure so I can play thru fallout 3 again

It's the 360 version of Fallout 3.

That's fine with me, I haven't played it in years and it will be nice to play thru it again.

I can't wait for FO4 tho. The gameplay for it looked amazing. I like how you can build your own house and stuff, Todd Howard is the man

I wonder if its going to be plain Fallout 3 or the GOTY edition. It don't matter to me I've played through them all several times on the PC and 360.

Bethesda cleared up that mods will be available for all platforms, just at different times. Mods will release first on PC, then Xbox One, and then PS4.

Since Microsoft has a policy that DLC must have a price associated with it, will be curious to see if MS tries to charge for whatever the Xbox version of "mods" end up being. Somehow I get the feeling it won't be the same as PC mods, not on the pristine consoles that are ruled with an iron fist and everything has to go through testing.

I also wonder what rights mod makers will have. Like someone makes a PC mod, what if he doesn't want it on Xbox or PS4? Since you won't be able to make mods on consoles it'll be interesting to see if consoles just mooch the PC mods or Bethesda has to run some conversion process and submit them to Ms and Sony.

That policy might not apply in this case. Mods aren't going to go through the Xbox market place, they're going to go through Bethesda.net.

Todd Howard has said that the plan is to be as hand's off as possible. Basically a small approval process and that's it. He's said that the plan is to even let through mods that would break saves and the like.

I'll be surprised if the ps4 gets mods. They say they plan to bring it to ps4, not guarantee it like pc and xbox one

I don't see why Sony would say no. They allowed some limited mod support for UT3, even though it never amounted to anything.

I remember Todd (god) Howard saying they hope to bring it to the ps4. I'd rather buy it on Xbox one knowing it will for sure get mods then sit and wait hoping the ps4 version gets them.

I can't wait to see digital foundry show the ps4 and xbone frame rate tests and see how each version looks and runs. If the ps4 version is better and it eventually gets mods down the road then I'll sell my xbone version and get the ps4 version.

Honestly they said they're aiming for 1080p/30 for both systems. I think both versions will be identical because I feel like both systems would be capable of higher frame rate than that with what we've seen.

I'm still debating which console to get it for, but this may be one of the very few multi platform games I get on my Xbox One.

If they would of came out and said for sure the ps4 version will have mod support at the same time as the Xbox one I would get the ps4 version for sure.

I'd hate to get the ps4 version tho and not get mods at all, Todd Howard saying we hope to bring this to the ps4 is what sealed the deal on me getting the xbone version

I'm still debating PS4 or PC. Benefits of the PC version it will look better (well, my vid card vs ps4) and hopefully steam workshop/more mods. Benefits of the PS4 version, I can sit on my couch, unless I get my home ethernet wiring done by then and in-home steam stream, that will get the 30fps easy to match consoles. Decisions......

If I had a gaming pc I'd get it on pc in a heartbeat. Just hook my tower up to my big screen TV and play it using a xbox controller.
No way I could justify building a pc when I have a xbone and ps4. I do remember playing fallout 3 on pc and 360 and the game looked and ran way better on my pc.

I'd say either finish the ethernet wiring and stream it. In fairness I don't think the PS4 version will be drastically different from PC as much as the difference between Fallout 3 or Skyrim between 360/PS3 and PC, but if you care about mods then they'll obviously hit PC first.

This is definitely a couch and controller game though, I can't handle 200+ hours of Wasteland exploration in an office chair at a desk.
