Hi

Im 35 and burned out with games...I love to play games but none of the current games is showing me any pulse..so if you have the time to listen to me whine then here we go...

I play LOL but its only fun 1-2 games a day.

Then i play final fantasy XXVIIXV or what ever the number they use...just started and its boring
I just skip all the lore in games cuz its boring..

I also bought Black ops 3 but i could write 100 reasons why it sucks..thanks god i got it cheap.

I use to play Wow when it was vanila and i was high warlord and had all the shit you can imagine.

I tryed alot of free mmorpg games like Tera and Aion and perfect world and Rift and Rappelz and many more i cant remember...they all are boring in the long run.

I also plyaed Path of exile until i realised the drop rate is awfull and i barly found anything.

Wasting several weekends staring on steam or youtube for a decent game is hopeless...:(

So i would like to know what game do you play and why and maybe we could play the same game to add some fun :)

Did you play alone or with a community , playing with alot of people can make a big difference , also sounds like your in MMO's for the most part and all you stated are the highest pop MMO's so im clueless also.

I am back into BF4 with friends . 5 of us go into same game and lock platoon and talk and BS all night while making people rage.

Try playing some games with friends if you are not atm . Makes a huge difference and makes it more enjoyable then solo gaming

36 here, and I pretty much stopped gaming for a few years, and have just picked up a few recently and rebuilt a rig. Nothing interested me very much for about 3 years save Civilization V and Sim City 4.

Some of the games coming out now are right up my alley.

35 here and i get this feeling now and then as well,

What i currently play

LoL - once in a while
WoT - mostly my main game right now
TF2 - my fall back if my Crit servers are populated

Once in a while CS:GO

i bought Cities, but not in the mood, if all else fails i fall back on Civ 5 but some times i just don't want to game at all, could care less, but dont feel like doing much else either.

Time to find new hobies away from the computer.

35 here and I play a ton of Kings Bounty.

Kinda like one giant chess game.

Been experimenting with racing with a wheel lately myself. Looks like fun and when and if i ever get good enough i can try online racing.
Been trying older games like Railroad Tycoon 3 and silent hunter 3/4. Been having fun with Evil Genius even though it's many years old. (Sometimes older IS better....:D)
And you might laugh, but i have fun playing Sims 4 building houses and doing dynasties...fun to see what happens sometimes...
As for MMO's, i play a few but don't have the time to really go hardcore into them as much as i used to so i play when i feel like it to have fun every now and then. Can burn out too easily if you spend all your time with it.
Just my .002

i played neverwinter for a long time

right now im playing windward and stranded deep and new vegas a bit

Turning 35 next month and I know what you mean. I played the hell out of WoW vanilla through WotLK and took several breaks but now I'm enjoying Warlords of Draenor. I know its only a matter of time before I burn out again but it helps that I can buy WoW tokens with in game gold and not have to buy a sub anymore.

I play Dota on and off like many of you do with LoL.

If you want something different have you looked into Kerbal Space Program? Its substantially different than most any games. A decent enough space flight simulator and the Kerbals strike the right balance of funny/silly to add some humor to your mishaps. Other neat games I enjoyed on Steam are Damned and Project Zomboid.

I'm 32 and I've felt burnt out, too. I started playing games around the times of Wolfenstein, Doom, RoTT, Heretic, Duke 3D, Quake, etc on my 486 66 DX2. The feeling of things being fresh, new, scary, and genuinely fun had left me long ago. That is until I played the DayZ mod. I can say without a doubt that it has been, in my opinion of course, the best game I have ever played, bar none. It's a game that has brought a roller coaster of emotions out of me. It's given me scares, made my heart literally race from intense encounters, made me sweat, and made me sad among many other things. I've felt betrayed, made friendships, and been upset about the way I've handled situations while in the game. It's a game that has made me feel things no other game has ever even come close to making me feel. If you're interested in the survival horror genre at all, I implore you to check out the DayZ mod or the standalone.

Here, check out some YouTube trailers if you don't know what it's about:

Yup. Take a break. Try different things. :)

This may be the real answer. I picked up road cycling 2 years ago and its turned out to be good for both fun and exercise. Now I hate winter enough to consider moving.

Hmm im happy im not the only one on 35 sitting here and feel blue about games, but i also dont feel like doing anything else than gaming. I dont have a GF or kids or pets. and my friends choose that path. So im a bit lonley when it comes to gaming friends. And you are right..game are fun with friends..

I find it hard to serach for new gamer friends that isent 16 or 18..

Maybe its time to admit im to old for games but its my only thing im good at :D

There is one game i am waiting for but i fear the release date will be years from now on...Its the game LOST ARK

I'm 44 and in the same boat. Its hard to get into almost any game I pick up, though GTA5 was an exception which really made me happy.

I'm starting to think I'm going to step away from the PC for a while and maybe get some exercise and just work at rebuilding my life since my wife left me for an out of state job. Its hard as hell though to break habit, and I'm so used to sitting at a PC gaming or coding or just messing around with something.

All things come to an end though, and maybe its time for a new beginning in my case. I guess we'll see. It's sort of scary to even think of going out and meeting people and making friends, I haven't had many/any in years really that I'd call "friends". Gotta start somewhere though I guess. :)

Possibly because you are playing MMO type games. I will be burnt out if I were playing those games as well. Invest in a single player game with some storyline. Try GTA V, Dragon Age Inqusition or Witcher 3. Alternatively, try racing games like Dirt Rally or Project CARS (if simulation is your thing). Alternatively, go into 3rd person games and try Castlevania or Evil Within or something.

Do what im doing now, I installed all the old doom games because I never beaten them in the past. These older games are fun, you should play doom, old duke nukems, quake 1, quake 2 etc .

Well, Im 63 and Ive quit gaming several times. Picked up synthesizers and keyboards.. photography, and dont laugh too hard baking bread.

It happens to everyone. Me, I got to a point I looked at my computer and didnt even want to check mail or anything. Just left the darn thing alone. Think it was 6 or 8 months later that I turned it on again.

So, I advise you relax, dont worry youre not alone.. and find something else to do for a while.
Oh yea, Im still doing photograph and just bought a new microbrute synth and I hardly game at all.

Cant believe I use to spend 12/14/18 hrs a day gaming.

You're not alone. I am 31 years old and have been really burnt out lately as well. Before my most recent gaming system (in sig), I thought I had promised myself to just stick with the 2700k build and not even worry about the "latest and greatest" games/hardware. I then built my Devil's Canyon system because I had the gaming "itch" again. I played WoW and other MMOs like Tera and Guild Wars 2. I also played CSGO, and other games on my back log.....I started off aggressively investing my time into my games with my new build, and even gamed with friends nearly every night. I even invested my time and efforts on building my streaming system for gaming on Twitch. That didn't even last long either.

Soon enough I found myself unsubbing from WoW, less time on CSGO, other MMOs, and maybe 1-2 hours on a back log game on steam...I was just not motivated. I probably consumed too much at a rapid rate. I now only focus on two games, CSGO and Smite, on the weekends. Even then, it's only a few hours and I'm off spending time with my family. I also have done that too, OP. I find myself looking through youtube videos or googling for the latest games. Glad I'm not the only one lol. Am I just getting old?... :(

I'm 30 and these days, I do find the number of games I'm interested in to be shrinking. 10 years ago I could play almost every major AAA titles, but these days only a handful caught my interest.

I supported Pillars of Eternity on Kickstarter, but I haven't actually gotten around to learning the game (same thing happened to Wasteland 2). I seem to be more interest in games that require less thinking these days, like GTA V which I'm playing right now. Something I can just pick up and play with almost no learning curve. Maybe my mind is just getting lazy

Same boat here. I just built a gaming super-rig though. I enjoyed the building and tweaking part more than actually playing it though! I need to finish Dying Light, and then finish GTA V and Witcher 3.

My wife and I just bought motorcycles, so hopefully that will keep me busy for a while :D

I'm 41, and have been battling this for awhile now. Buddy that I've been playing with has dropped off the coop thing so has left me a little empty. Anyone want to start a trend? Weekend gaming? CoD WaW zombies? Borderlands games? Left for Dead 2? What y'all have in mind?

Remarkable honesty. This is a familiar story.

However, you're under a cloud now, which will darken considerably in the coming years if you don't get your ass to the gym. I dont care if you're skinny or fat, all the answers are there. Its not merely about "getting ripped" or "losing weight" - there's a greater purpose: Its a personal empowerment journey, and will have positive ripple effects on ALL other parts of your life - mental, physical, emotional. Mental clarity improves, thinking becomes clearer and more efficient because the system's getting more oxygen and better nutrition. And the women there with just enough of the superficial things that really matter don't suck to look at.

If you struggle with weight or are overweight, ketogenic diet. There's a reddit group (read the FAQ) and a facebook group. Keto + weight training a few days a week (something like Stronglifts 5x5 to start out) = collision course to changing your life which won't take years but within weeks and months.

Sometimes, I get burned out from gaming, among other things. Thankfully, I have my wife, kids, and other hobbies to keep me busy, and often times I do not have time for games anyhow, especially when I have to work overtime and what not.

I would strongly advise you try other things for awhile, especially things that allow you to meet other people. Sounds like you could use some socialization. You might find interest in other things, even though you don't feel it now.

This is just the thread I've been looking forward to reading, it's true that you are not alone. I'm 36, play mostly BF4, GTA V, and whatever AAA FPS may be out at the time. I don't game online with friends as our schedules rarely match up. I'm feeling gaming burn out too, I'll play a few rounds of BF4 then go outside and wash my SUV, clean up the yard from our dirty winter or go for walks. My PC doesn't get much use other than a few rounds a day if it's lucky.
I'm going back to the gym soon to improve my well-being, I'm a paramedic so the job and the hours are really wearing me down. I'm fortunate to have an awesome wife and two young boys to chase around and burn away the stress. Gaming used to be my release but it's not really cutting it any more, sitting in a dark room in the same position for hours while gaming has lost its allure lately.

you need a new hobby

may I suggest golf..35 is the pefect age too..lots of women play golf too (hint hint) if you're a single guy

it provides everything social beings require

exercise
skill progression
social interaction

and if you are in corporate america, playing golf with the boss/coworkers is a great team building exercise and WILL help your career

it also is fun if your wife/girlfriend plays...women LOVE playing golf with their partners

I swear to god one day I'm gonna open a camp to teach people about how life was before the internet..I thank god I never grew up with this thing and had to actually go outside to play and meet other kids for pickup basketball and football games..and I actually loved going to the library...I can't remember the last time I was in a library....sad really

good luck and its OK to put the mouse down and hit the power off button on ALL devices..my favorite button on the TV is the mute button..the world becomes a much better place the moment I do that

Over 40 here, same issue. I buy games that appear to be good, have good reviews, and a couple of hours into it I am like; meh and I never touch them again.

I enrolled in an MBA program at WGU, that will keep me busy and is sort of like a game as I try to get it done faster, cheaper, better.

+1 for keto, check "The Coconut Ketogenic Diet" by Bruce File.
-1 for weights, while weights will seriously kickstart keto the injury rate/possibility is just too high, especially for lifing rookies. Instead try Diamond Dallas Page's DDPYoga (https://ddpyoga.com) which is a very inexpensive and less injury prone way to go from sedentary to actually getting back into moving more.

Bottom line, play the game of life.

I'm 26 and the same, I pretty much only play halo multiplayer online when I'm at my friends house. Other than that games really just kind of bore me now.

It's a phase. I go in and out of gaming all the time. Can't stomach the thought of gaming some times for months in a row. Then some new game will come out and I'll be glued every night for many hours until I burn myself out again. Its got to be a pretty good game to get me excited these days though.

I am one of those familiar stories. I am 38 years old and my girlfriend recently left me a day after our 10 year anniversary together. Even if Limahl does not take your advice I certainly will. I was very athletic in my teenage years and early 20s, but transitioned into an entirely too sedentary lifestyle for the past 15 or so years since going "all in" working and gaming on computers. I know I need to make a change and in all honesty have known that I have needed to for some time now, but just couldnt find the motivation or willpower to get out and do it before.

Just woke up and found my post increasing alot !

The golf or gym thing isent me, im not sporty at all and im not in a bad shape either since work is keeping me fit. And my town is small so meeting other people in my situation is no go.
Finding people in here is much better :)

The witcher 3 is on my to do list, but still i need a social/multiplayer game

Like "Dragon69" said we should try to work something out with weekend gaming and find some games together that could bring back that pulse for gaming again. Lets fuel the fire again !

What about if we create some kind of site/forum or "home" were we all in this boat can sign up
and meet in games

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm a Type 1 diabetic (born that way) so diet changes for me have to be done carefully. I've had an excellent A1C for years (6.5-7.2) and don't want to mess it up if I can help it.

Lifting may or may not not be an option though, as I've got diabetic retinopathy in both eyes (blood vessels leaking into the clear fluid) and they warned me specifically about doing any heavy lifting at my job at the time (hauling bags of dog food at the time they said could make it worse due to the increased blood pressure forcing more blood into the eyes), so I'd have to check with the doc on doing any sort of weightlifting routine. It may be possible if I stick with smaller weights, I'm not sure. I've had a desk job now for 7+ years which he said was great for my eyes, but not so great for my weight and joints, etc etc.

Last Friday I went out for a walk on break just to get out of the office and other than a sore toe (from a previous broken injury) it felt good to just get outside a bit. A 20 minute walk around the block may not add up to much, but its a start, albeit a small one, and me just going outside at all is a near newsworthy event. If I can manage that at least once a day at work all week, I figure I can work up from there somehow to get into other things maybe.

Such a bitch of a first step though, like breaking any bad habit I guess, but I'm trying at least.

I blame MMO's, they have given far far more memorable experiences than any other game could have possibly given. The problem is the MMO genre is stale and old and boring and hasn't done anything exciting in years.

Well I'm 47 and have been in and out of gaming for years. The fact is it becomes a lifestyle, an addiction really. We all joke about it, but it's true. We get into a routine and then suddenly we can't think of anything else to do.

Sometimes you just have to get out of the house and see the sun. Reunite with family and friends. Play some paintball, ride a bike, mow your grass. You'd be surprised what a couple days off experiencing real life can do.

If you know you're not going to do any of that, then just switch game genres. Try something you've never played before and give yourself the time to get passed the learning curve. If a MP game, then like others have already stated, finding a group of friends can make all the difference.

I just rediscovered the Baldur's Gate franchise.

I played BG1 when it first came out, and loved it; but somehow got distracted by other games before playing BG2.

According to steam, I've played 240 hours between BG1 and BG2, and I'm not even into BG2 TOB yet. I'm really loving these games, and couldn't be happier about the fact that I'm not sinking $60 into new titles that only please me for 30 or 40 hours of play.

The only problem I face is the upcoming release of Witcher 3 - it'll be hard not to jump on that - but I know I wont be ready to set BG2 down until I've completed TOB with my current character. I think I might even have to do another playthrough.

I'm guessing I'll get 400 hours out of the BG/BG2 games... nothing has done that for me since Skyrim.

Life just gets in the way for most of us. It isn't like college where you have huge blocks of free time to shoot the crap with your friends every night.. Everyone has their own career paths, family lives, and schedules. It's hard enough to get a free chunk of time for yourself much less one that coincides with exactly when your buddies have free time as well. And let's face it, gaming is way more fun with friends and when you don't have other responsibilities weighing on the back of your mind. As much as I'm looking forward to a super immersive game like Star Citizen, I really doubt I'd have the patience or be in the mood for something so complex nowadays.

Its true the mmorpg havent done anything new or great to remember a game for.

But still im up for gathering all the people in same boat like me and create this weekend gaming. :)

Get a motorcycle, far better than any game.

You're at the age that you deserve a little piece of mind and adventure.

Nothing like getting on your motorcycle and just going.

The five or so years I've been riding, I've met countless amount of other riders just looking to do something fun.

Road trip, carve some canyons on a Sunday, cruise, local meet ups, hell I even commute to work some days on mine.

It never really gets old either.
I've logged over 100,000 miles so far, and I'm just getting started.

In june, I'm taking three weeks off to do a cross country tour with some friends. I live in California, they are in Texas and Ohio.

We're going to meet in the middle, and take the big historic routes for the remaining days.
I've been planning this trip since last summer.

Costly, but well worth it. The adventure side of riding vs in a game is unparalleled and can't possibly match it.

Sorry bro i dont ride motorbikes and i dont have any interrest in getting one.
It seems like you have tons of fun driving around, but i Live in flat Denmark were nothing is to see realy..we have the mermaid and a round tower for tourist...thats it ! . But thanks for your advice :)

31 here, and I find myself playing only Titan Quest or Binding of Isaac these days. All the releases these days all seem to run into each other, and as a result fail to hold my interest for more than an hour.

I've been trying to get my dad to join a real life racing club with me. Sebring and Homestead are both within driving distance for both of us. He has a Boss 302 that is aching to stretch its legs.
