Planetside 2 PS4 closed beta, sign up!

I'm very excited about this coming to ps4

I'm hoping they do a first come first serve invite instead of random :)

25 free to play games coming to ps4, awesome Sony!

This and D1Z1 are on my definite to play list.

I enjoyed this game on the PC, so I'm willing to give it a shot on consoles. Thanks for the link!

No way am I going back to this game since I played it non stop on PC like two years ago.

You've been away. What better time to play again?
Come on, take this crack... You like it!

Plus I've seen the love/hate relationship pain in your Destiny posts, Comixbooks - a return to PS2 might be the answer to finally overcoming your Destiny addiction! :p

All I need to do is listen to the intimidation music from some Terran Republic guy hiding behind a rock snipering me.

TR felt the Vanu pain when we took over Amerish yesterday. Seriously, I don't know why I haven't played for so long, its been about a year myself, till yesterday. So fun.

Please if anyone has any news on actual dates of release for vanilla or beta versions, please post it here ASAP. I'll do the same if I receive an email from them too.
Really awaiting this game. Haha

Yes as you said.

But hopefully we can see the beta by that date.
Which is good enough for me. Cause, I just want to play

Also, Sony claims the game will run at 60 frames per second.
Sony also adding, the PS4 will have equal graphics to the "Ultra" setting/quality of the PC version.
Anyone find this a bit far fetched?

I doubt they've had a maxed out 2,000 player test server running to back their statement up.
I just don't see this happening.

There have also been rumors of downsizing server caps by a few hundred, which is fine by me. But if you notice, literally all of the gameplay videos of devs playing, E3 demos, PlayStation Experience demos, etc, have maybe a dozen or so players around them. Do you see where I'm going with this?

Hence why the beta is coming, but I don't think 60 frames, 2000 players, ultra graphics is possible with this game. I just don't see it.

And another thing I conclude with. My PC specs, sad to say it, are in the same category per say of the ps4. I cannot play PS2 on ultra at all.(At least during peak fights). Which makes me even more of skeptic.

But who knows? I'm hoping I'm wrong.

Nah, its do-able. PS2 is a CPU intensive game. The graphics are a little dated to be honest. (my rig runs at 1080/60fps, 40-45 when shit goes down)
They are currently trying to optimize the CPU side of it, which is where the whole 'instance spawning' thing comes in.

Currently its all based on the number of units around you. If you are in a chaos zone with 96+ units on your side, and 96+ enemy units also; the draw distance is extremely close. Sometimes units will just appear in front of you like magic, but they were there all along. If you don't see the enemy in time...

They're gonna have to balance that somehow on the console side, even tho its still an issue on the PC side after 2 years.

I think Halo 5 is going to have a tuff act to follow once people get Drift of this game.

PC gamers have raved about it for just about ever.

Problem is that Planeside works best with large clans/guilds. It isn't really great as a lone wolf game.

What action game IS more fun when playing solo?

Planetside still has its rewards for playing solo.

What's the story with everyone on this? Tuesday is beta!

Are we all getting emails on the 20th(first people in order) and then just download on PSN ? I don't understand it.

But either way, cannot wait to play this on the PS4!

You think flying is going to be easier with a Duo Shock?
I'm not going to play this game no matter what I had my fill of Planetside 2.

ive never neen a flying type of guy.
Battlefield, Planetside 2 etc..

I'm an infantry guy.

Tomorrow is the day. Anyone get the email yet?
I guess they are sending them out tomorrow.

Neh, that's a negative.

They haven't been too clear on the times or exact plans on first wave of emails, hopefully they do tomorrow morning.

I read on their twitter they will send out tomorrow as well.

I'm very surprised no one is biting on this thread.

The beta has been officially released, although in a very small amount of invites, more to come this morning and all week.

It will not run at 60 frames! HA I called it from earlier in this thread. They locked it at 30 :/

With the CPU these things have I couldn't imagine it would have ever even been discussed.

60fps was always the target. The 30fps talk started 2 weeks ago. Thats why everyone is surprised.

I don't even know if I got the email, but I don't care anymore. I've played all weekend on my PC and I'll continue to. 60fps is too good to give up. Too bad.

I'd imagine 60 would always be the target for every game, but something on the scale of PS2 is another thing entirely lol. I played on the PC for awhile but that was a 2500k at 4.8GHz and crossfired 7970s.

It was impressive but as soon as I heard they were porting to PS4 it just seemed obvious to me it's impossible. Granted they did have MAG in PS3 so who knows.

Its quite a let down. I would have preferred lower quality graphics but a solid 60 fps frame rate (outside of huge battles which I know is impossible on the PS4).

I think with this latest revelation it kinda kills my need for wanting to play it on the PS4 as well. I can play it on my PC at over 60 fps rock solid.

Quite the let down.

I'm there with you.

Graphics are nice to have, but what's the point if it looks choppy?
I'd say drop the graphics to medium quality and see what happens.

Anyone get a key yet?
I haven't.

No key here either. :-(

No key for me. They are just trickling them out which leads me to believe that they have very minimal server space.

They will have to do an open beta if they want real stability observation/resolving otherwise it could be a mess.

I think I'll give away my key if I get one I just can't imagine playing PS2 at 30 fps it just really would be jarring coming from an 80+ fps constant setup.

Are there any PC gamers that received a beta code that are willing to pass it on?

I would love to try out this game and I do not own a PC. I signed up for the closed beta when it was announced and still have not received a beta code.

I am very eager to play the beta and would love to provide feedback to the developers during this stage of development.

And I promise I'll pass on my code if I receive one :D

What I want to know is, how early were any kind of sign ups for this? I signed up the second I saw the thread which was early December. I'm hearing there was an invite sign up well before that.

During the summer there was I believe a sign up but it was brief. The way they are handling this closed beta I think they want to go extremely slow.

I think if anything it shows the state of the game on the PS4 is far from ready for release.

Yeah, that's what I heard as well. I also signed up in December.

Supposedly, the invites have not been going out in chronological order; however I'm not sure if this is true. It seems SOE is leaking out keys very slowly for this beta. I'm expecting an open beta sometime during Q4 2015 as there seems to be a lot of development required before release.

My only complaint is their marketing. It does not seem like there is much hype surrounding the game at the moment (Only 100k followers on their Twitter page seems low for a game of this caliber).

I think over time this will improve.

Q4? Jeez, I really thought I would recieve an invite sooner than that. Much sooner.

The more beta players, the more marketing comes in.

Except that if a beta experience is say not very good the word of mouth can kill sales for release. People are much more critical of beta's and with good reason because they often despite warnings from the provider otherwise sadly represent a frequent state of release with major releases.

If I play the PS2 PS4 beta and its really buggy or there are performances issues with the servers then I for instance would probably pass on it until it was in the bargin bin. I no longer have the patience to deal with launch issues for MP games.

So a slow trick closed beta release is probably quite the smart thing to do. Dial up the servers and squash bugs as they arise versus slamming them with numbers and giving everyone the overall impression that its a total mess.
